The author Ronald Youngblood observed the preface of the Old Treatment in the book, The Heart of the Old Testament by demonstrating the basic outline of the Scriptures is to trace the development of certain key ideas from one end of the Bible to the other. This book serves a great purpose that lays out nine themes that constitute the heart of the Old Testament. The nine themes are monotheism, sovereignty, election, covenant, theocracy, law, sacrifice, faith, and redemption. The theme for our MMVS elocution this year is taken from the book of Revelations, chapter 13, verse 10 – “Call for the endurance and faith of the saints”. While preparing for the elocution, I realized that this verse was taken from the International Standard Version of the Bible. I checked other versions of the Holy Bible for this particular verse and realized that different versions had different words for this particular verse. Orthodox Study Bible used the words patience and the faith of the saints, New American Standard Bible used perseverance and the faith of the saints, while the New International Version used patient endurance and faithfulness. Chapter 2: Looking into the fourth verse, it shocks me to know that Jesus mentions His death so early in this gospel. He also mentions it at the temple in Jerusalem, where He tells the Jews to destroy the temple. Of course, the Jews didn’t really know what He meant by destroying the temple and raising it up in three days. At the Passover Feast, Jesus didn’t entrust Himself to the people who only believed in Him for His miracles. Chapter 3: Nicodemus was a man of the Pharisees who came to Jesus by night to speak with Him.
In the Bible as in Literature, though Moses’ belief in God is inconsistent at times, his flourishing faith is able to give him strength in becoming the leader that he now is, and having the persistence and durability to save the Israelites. Without God’s guidance and knowledge, Moses’ courage would be nonexistent. God approaches Moses, when he is in need, pleading for Moses to advise the Israelites into safety, unfortunately Moses is first low in determination for himself. In order to officially escape the Israelites out of Egypt, he needs God’s overpowering spirit to bring down destructive plagues on the vile Egyptians. At the final exit to freedom, Moses is at a dead-end, and only one man has the ability to help Moses split the waters, solely God himself.
Moses was herding sheep when he saw a bush on fire; a bush on fire that was not being consumed must have been a startling sight. Ex. 3:1 & 4:17 Of all things would you expect to hear God almighty speaking to you in a small voice? 1 Kings 19:9-18. If it would have been me asking God instead of Job I think my questions would have been endless.
In the book of Joshua the characteristics of the covenant in 5:1-12 states that all male Israelites were required to undergo circumcision, this covenant meant cutting off the old life and beginning a new life with God. Circumcision, also marks the covenant of Israel’s position as God’s covenant people. In Joshua 24: 18 states “We too will serve the Lord, because he is our God.” This a powerful verse, all the people of Israel confirmed they would serve the Lord and never forsake Him.
An Egyptian fought a Hebrew, which aggrieved Moses. In the course of trying to defend the Hebrew, Moses accidentally killed the Egyptian and buried him in the sand, thinking to keep it as a secret. When he later learned that he had been seen by someone, he escaped and went to a faraway country, where he lived a shepherd. The Israelites were freed by God’s intervention,
They soon got married and had two sons named Gershom and Eliezer. When he was 80 years old, Moses was shepherding his father-in-law's sheep when God revealed himself as a burning bush on Mount Horeb. God told Moses to go to Egypt with his brother, Aaron, and ask the pharaoh one request: "Let my people go.” When the pharaoh resists Moses’ request to let his people go, Moses then tells the pharaoh that something really bad will happen. When the pharaoh still won’t let the slaves go free, God lets go the Ten Plagues on Egypt.
Propp also points out that “it is possible to epitomize the entire story of Exodus as the movement of the fiery manifestation of the divine presence.” The Lord’s flaming presence in this text is meant to illuminate and reinforce His kabod (Propp 1999, 36). God’s glory also finds expression in Pharaoh’s hard-heartedness which demonstrates that nothing can stand in the way of His kabod. Instead, the Lord can use anything, even human resistance, to illustrate His sovereign glory. Balthasar draws attention to another aspect of this passage which is that “the people do virtually nothing more than ‘look on’” as the Lord manifests His majestic power and glory over not only the natural world (i.e. the Sea of Reeds), but also over humanity as well (which includes both the Egyptians and the Israelites).
If you think back from reading the story when Pharaoh was killing All male babies looking for the coming Messiah. Moses mother hid him out and sent him down the river and Pharaoh daughter found him. Little did she know that he Would be the one to bring God 's people out of Slavery. Moses was a humble man that Didn 't speak well. Moses was obedience to God 's word and the Lord was with Moses to bring his people out of bondage.
Moses walked in a supernatural power that few before him and few after him walked in. He set a new precedent for his people, and showed them that God’s power is a very tangible reality, and he was able to help lead them into a covenant with God that few people had ever known before. However, before this, he had to surrender whatever plans that he might have felt were right for his own life, whatever idolatrous ways that he had learned from the Egyptians and from the pagan tribe of his father-in-law’s, and all that was comfortable for something that was, at the moment, uncomfortable and fairly unknown. However, he was able to replace it with something much greater—a personal relationship with God, where he was an open door for God to come and work among the people whom He had delivered, restoring their identity as a people, and showing them that they were not just slaves. This was to be a precedent for the relationship with God that his people are to have with Him as believers with repentant hearts, and shows only a small part of the spiritual blessings in which God wants to cover us as followers of Jesus, the

While some aspects of the biblical story seep through this portion of the episode, much of it strays from the original source, adding and deleting parts that are either relevant or irrelevant to the plot of the episode.
