II) Traits and Behaviors: Mr. Keating presents himself as this kind and open men, who is also wise and wholly. Which is huge contrast to the other teachers. We see this in the first class, all the others class the teacher in the front, strict and class is orderly. But not English class, to start Mr. Keating hides behind the door and observes them comes in whistle, leaves and tells his boys to follow. He does not lay down the rules or give a syllabus, he takes them to picture. The way he asks even if you are wrong the weird sound he makes does not seem patronizing. He recognizes all the students as people not numbers, he notices Todd insincerity and shyness or fearfulness, but also Neil confidence hiding pain. Keating teaches. As Denning describes the way people change their minds as denning says “understanding why people change their minds is central to leadership” (96). This film tells about how someone to open people up to thinking for themselves and not being told what to do. This film though it is a form of direct narrative, it shows all three ways to change one’s mind. Observed experience, by as watching this boy change, we seethe fail and achieve. We also see indirect narrative, through Mr. Keating and his stories and the poetry they read. This film itself is direct narrative. To understand the power of films and this film we have understand the idea of narrative and how it affects and changes us. Going back into denning article, I see the idea of direct narrative, this longer story, that ingrains us in. But also I see in this film, indirect narratives, morals and values not throw in are face, but there for us to interpret and take
