This is a great topic, and reading the requirements, I knew who to choose. According to Baugh, A. (2007, April 16) The Successful Leader http://www.lifescript.com/well-being/articles/t/ Sometimes we choose to lead and in other circumstances we are pushed into leadership. Whether you want to lead or are selected, how you demonstrate your leadership will determine how successful you will be and how successful those who follow you will become. So having a good example to follow, who demonstrates and exemplifies leadership; only makes it easier to build the same traits.
The person I have chosen is my Facility Manager, Cindy Truesdale. I have been working with Mrs. Truesdale for about 3 years now. Now of-course, she has many traits about herself that draws others to follow her. The first of those wonderful traits is being flexible. Not everything goes according to plan. Existing customers are constantly adding new business, new customers are forcing new requirements, new budget restraints stop the flow of current production, and occasionally, a natural disaster happens (Not literally!!!). Truesdale exemplifies is being able to communicate effectively. Not all leaders are able to present. Although this is not a requirement of a leader, but we all know from experience. Some people can talk a good game, but not back it up when it’s time. My vocabulary has increased just from tuning in to some of her speeches, during meeting, during conference calls and through emails. Leaders, who can communicate well, are those who can share thoughts with employees. Meaning; they are able share their strengths and personal characteristics through their communication.
