In the graveyard one night, waits Tom and Huck for the thieves to come by. They sat there not expecting what they were about to see. As three men wandered into the graveyard, they began digging, but not for a body, for a treasure map. At last they had found it. The three men instantly began to argue over who’s map it was. Then one of the men, Engine Joe, pulled out a knife, and killed the doc. Muff Potter, who was one of those three men didn’t know what to do. His friend, who had just killed the doc was now running away with the map, and there was also now a murderer on the loose. As Tom and Huck witnessed this gruesome sight, they couldn’t help but want to tell someone about it, but they knew they couldn’t. Soon enough the entire town knew about the murdering of the doc, except they were all convinced that it was Muff Potter. He swore he didn’t do it, and all though Tom knew he didn’t do it, he kept to himself. Everyone in town was back at ease. They figured that Muff was the murderer and he was locked up in jail, so he couldn’t cause any harm. Little did they know that the murderer had been just under their noses the whole time. When it came time for Muff Potter’s trial, Tom couldn’t take it anymore, even if he did make a pact with Huck not to tell. The second reason that some people thing that Tom and Huck should not have told the authorities the truth about Dr. Robinson’s murder is that it took them on many adventures. After witnessing the murder, the boys went on many adventures such as tracking and hunting down Injun Joe. The reason that this is not a valid reason is that Muff Potter was sitting all alone in a dusty jail cell and they are putting the boys’ wild sense for adventure over the value of Muff’s
Throughout Huck’s adventures, he is put in numerous situations where he must depend on himself, and use his own judgment to make fundamental decisions that will later have an affect on his life. Growing up, Huck has always been considered an outcast amongst all his peers and in society as a whole. Consistently throughout the book, all the people he is forced to live with try to change him. Prior to the start of the novel, Miss Watson and Widow Douglas have been granted legal custody of Huck, who views him as an uncivilized boy who possesses no morals. Huck explains in the opening chapter, “The Widow Douglas, she took me for her son, and allowed she would sivilize me”(Twain 1).
Upon the death of the well-off Peter Wilks, the con men riding along with Huck and Jim, the King and the Duke, spot a chance to delude the townspeople and steal their money. They stop in town and pretend to be the brothers of the newly deceased Wilks. After faking this brotherhood for a couple of days, the King and the Duke attend the somber wake of Mr. Wilks. Throughout the ceremony, a dog and a rat in the basement of the Funeral Home create noise, so a mysterious undertaker character dramatically deals with the ruckus by stealing the guest’s attention once he makes his way down the stairs, where, “in about two seconds we heard a whack, and the dog he finished up with a most amazing howl or two, and then everything was dead still … ‘He had a rat!’ ” (308).
One night Tom and Huck went to the graveyard and witnessed a murder. They saw Injun Joe kill Doctor Robinson, but Injun Joe had framed Muff Potter. Tom doesn’t know to tell or not, but keeping the secret to himself makes him feel bad. Some people say that Tom should tell because he feels really bad and cannot sleep at night, but they should not tell because in the long run, everything will turn out good. The reasons that Tom and Huck should not tell is because the people in the town wouldn’t believe them, they would most likely die, and he will eventually start feeling better.

This demonstrates how Miss Watson is trying to stain religion on huck even though she does not fully understand it herself. Huck and Tom clearly demonstrate some of humanitys fault in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Twain uses diction, dialouge, and characterization to symbolize society through Tom and Huck in order to show the Hypocricy and Blind comformity in an everyday society.
The Nest/ Foreshadowing I think that paragraph that said " After 3 blocks ,he slowed down, panting his face set with fury. the habit of thinking, encouraged by his parents at ever opportunity, began to function" foreshowed the middle and end of the story because at the begging of the story it said that Jimmy wanted to go on a hike with his friend named Paul but apparently Paul very bad kid his mom said that he stole candy from a store and is in a gang. the first paragraph i already knew that he was going to break his moms rule and go on a hike with is "bad" friend and i was right, and i think that Paul is a bad kid might be from his dad being a alcoholic in the middle of the story Jimmy invites Paul to his house for dinner and

Huck is unsure how to react, when the Duke and the King con the Innocent Wilks brothers. Huck decides he will “ I’ll go and search them rooms”(Twain 182). He steals the money, so he can give it back to the Wilk’s. Huck didn’t know where to hide the money, so he put it in the coffin.
