Did you know Muhammad was the founder of Islam, but didn’t initially create the religious practices? Muhammad was influenced by the angel Gabriel to recite Allah’s words. Now as you know Mecca was a holy city, but before it was a cross road of the lucrative caravan trade that raged all over Europe. All sorts of things would travel through the city, like spices, perfumes, metals, ivory and silk. It’s the city where Muslim began. The Muslim religion diffused so rapidly because of Muhammad’s message, trade, and the Militaries’ conquest. Islam spread so quickly because of trade. One big achievement is the last years that followed Muhammad’s death. Three caliphs (all relatives or close friends of Muhammad) that were in power at various times during this time period brought much of the Middle East under Muslim control. The last years of Muhammad’s life – Many of the tribes on the Arabian Peninsula combined into one Arabic Islamic family. So they made a great impact on the spread. Between 661 and 750 much of the Middle East spread from Southern France to India. So a lot of migration of goods, religions, and races must have taken place and diffused. It was difficult to be a good Muslim because there were a lot of rules and you have to be good to be able to be a part of this “pact”.
