Research The name of my biome is the Savanna My biome is called the Savanna. A Savanna is described a large area of grass which contains some trees, and is typically found in warm tropical areas. Climate and Location: The Savanna is a of very dry hot place so it found in places like some parts of Australia, and of course Africa. The dominant plants in a Savanna are mostly grass, a little bit of trees and shrubs. The Savanna for the most part is hot and dry, but the plants have a way to survive. The plants have long root systems which they use to gather large portions of water when it gets severely hot in the Savanna. The gazelle, much like the elephant eats the plants and grasses. The Savanna has many abiotic factors much like the soil. It can be hard for plants to grow in it when it is hot and it has not rain. The rain is also another abiotic factor as it helps get a cooler weather. The rain also helps with the growth of the plants as the soil needs to absorb it so the plants can drink it through their roots. The animals use water to drink too, except they get it from a river or stream to cool off and get nutrients into their bodies to function properly. The sun is yet another abiotic factor. Even Though the sun is not a living thing, it does help the plants and animals. The plants need the sun to undergo the process of photosynthesis. This how plants make their own food and get nutrients. The plants also need sunlight to grow. With this the plants thrive and the herbivores feed off of them for energy. The major threats to the Savanna are foreign species of animals. The animals in the Savanna are already grazing the land because it is what they do. Now with new animals being brought by people, they will also graze the land. Too much grazing isn’t good. It will damage the land. It also affects the animals. They will have to compete for food, and the more of them that are their will cause the tragedy of the commons. The animals will run out of food fast because there a lot that need to
