Why is water so critical to living organisms?

Water is a macronutrient. This means the body requires large of it to function properly. Most animals can survive for weeks without nutrition. However, they can not survive without water. You can only go a few day without water before your body will start to shut down. Water helps the body to disperse other nutrients, and will dissolve and eliminate the waste products in the digestion system. Water is needed to maintain blood pressure. It is involved in all cellular activities. When the body is deprived of water it becomes dehydrated.
