I’ve never really stopped to think about my own sexual history and how lifestyle, family, religious beliefs, and media has had an impact on my own sexual history. I was born in a Catholic Peruvian family, my parents moved to the United States in hopes to live the American dream but growing up my father always explained how inside the house we would live by traditional Peruvian customs. My father was very strict and over protecting when it came to me because I was his only girl. Luckily for him I was such a tomboy growing up I never thought about boys.

Sexual harassment is a form of gender discrimination and often displayed in the form of unwanted attention or unwanted sexual advances or unwanted sexual actions. Specifically, this paper will focus intently on sexual harassment in the Army and the problems that entails. The ethical problems regarding sexual harassment are significant because of the unique environment that the Army conducts its self.
In comparison to “The Necklace”, the portrayals of men in “Soldier’s Home” are used to deduce that a hierarchical relationship between two genders exists. It strengthens sexism in the text through the traits of male characters. The qualities of men in this text are associated with violence and aggression. This is because the male in this text is depicted as dominant over female and authoritative in both society and house. Everything revolves around Krebs, who is the only male character present in “Soldier’s Home”.
A person’s sexuality shapes a human being, and defines who they are. Sexuality is an idea that society has struggled with for decades to define and accept. Early America viewed sexuality in black and white, and did not understand that individuals can be attracted to the same sex, and etc. As society slowly starts to become more accepting to sexuality and peoples’ different sexual orientations, it is interesting to think about where we started. The four factors that shaped early America views on sexuality were race, gender, religion, and class.
In December of 2010, the Barack Obama Administration repealed a law that discriminated against a community of people who were looked at more for their sexual orientation than the ability to fight for their country. “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” was a policy started by the Clinton Administration in 1994. For seventeen years it forced gay people who were serving in the military, to lie about their homosexuality. If they did not obey this rule, they would be dismissed and unable to serve. Sexual intercourse in every culture and religion are all different from same gender sex, age of Marriage, giving birth, or even becoming a sexual partner with one or more people. Living in America, We are a melting pot and have lots of open people when it comes to same sex marriage being legal in every state in America. After doing more research and reading many of the articles my mind started really thinking of what I value in my own sexual culture and religion. However, each person is different based on morals and what environment they were raised in.

These social constructionist theories of sexuality offer an alternative to the idea that sexuality was pure science. These theories believed that sexuality was formed rather than innate. These theories believed that, “Social factors determine which desires are sexual and which serve as identities, which identities and desires are acceptable, and what forms of sexual intimacy are appropriate,” (Spurgas Lecture 08-27-15.)
Social constructionism examines cross culture differences and historical contexts that show how categories have changed to identify sexual orientation. The first assumption for social constructionism is that objective reality doesn’t exist in other words stating that no set reality exists for every human regarding sexuality or gender. Assumption two states that we make subjective interpretations of what we experience. This means that when an individual goes through a particular situation, they make-up their own reality or beliefs for certain situation. Assumption three expresses that we construct reality within a given cultural context.
Society is shaped by a number of different forces and factors. Inevitably, these forces come together to construct the life of the individual. In this essay, C.W. Mills’ sociological imagination will be discussed. A personal problem,homosexuality, and a social issue, homosexuality, will be highlighted. In concluding the essay, a reflection on the usefulness of the sociological imagination will be offered.
The Bible, a Christian’s final authority for both belief and behaviour, firmly establishes the fact that the only sexual orientation that is innate is heterosexual. “God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it;" (Genesis 1:28, New American Standard Bible). God was speaking to a man and a woman. It is evident from the scripture that God would not give these instructions to individuals of the same sex, as they would be unable to reproduce.

I, too, selected Duty Ethics as part of my ethical theory (along with Rule Utilitarianism, Divine Nature Theory, and Revelational Christian Ethics) as I firmly believe that morality is unconditional in every situation. In fact, I agree with Immanuel Kant’s argument that moral dilemmas are resolved by applying the categorical imperative principle of doing what we must do in order to act morally. Kant further explains that we should act in the same way that we would prefer everyone else to act. With respect to homosexual marriage, I have also faced this dilemma with a coworker at a former place of employment.
I was still basically a child. But just like a six or ten year old knows what gender they are, what veggies they despise, or their favorite television show, I knew I wasn’t normal. While normal has a different definition depending on who you ask, I’m speaking of society’s definition of normal, which can also vary depending on the place. Social institutions are influenced by social institution, religion, economy, family, medicine also law. Each institution supports “sexual ideology, or discourse, also sexual activity”. Important part of Americans life is religion.
Normal has changed from culture to culture. For example, somebody with an individualistic culture focuses on personal growth and success, while somebody with a collectivist culture, focuses on harmonizing with its group, and in building and maintaining relationships. Furthermore, according to the sociocultural perspective, a change or shift happens because of the fact that what 's considered normal is not concrete, and normality happens to change over time, through people 's social context, and across generations. However, if we use the statistical perspective to figure out normality, then we are comparing ourselves to the masses of other people. Therefore, we can safely conclude that normality is an ever-changing phenomenon, no matter which perspective we view it
