Life changing experiences have a good or a bad effect on peoples lives and are often quite challenging. This idea was explored in the fiction stories Hatchet by Gary Paulson, Dragon Wings by Lawrence yep, and Eleven by Sandra Cisneros. Brian from Hatchet, Moon shadow from Dragon Wings, and Rachel from Eleven all faced life changing experiences that have a big effect on their lives. Brian faced loneliness and hunger when he was stranded in the middle of the forest. Many things made Brian lonely including the fact that he had to spend many nights alone and hoped “they would probably come today.”
Some people may have not experienced personal growth yet, but many have. Personal growth can take people down unimaginable roads to find success and happiness. It can also happen and occur in many different ways. Wes Moore attended military school which ultimately turned his life around after almost heading down the wrong path with drugs and illegal activities. Tim McGraw went through a battle with alcohol addiction and he turned his life around with music and Neil Gaiman, he encouraged the young graduates of the University School of Arts in 2012 to go out and learn, try new things.
Living in Conditions that Ultimately Made Them Stronger John Quincy Adams once stated, “patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish.” In the world today, obstacles have an impact on the way one goes about their respective life. These obstacles range from emotions to illness to social class. How one interprets those obstacles decides whether that life goes down as a success or failure. As a society, we often admire those who take their obstacles and use them to create a better life.
Many people go through life changing battles, well here are some of the biggest ones that i’ve read. From Percy Jackson and his wild quests to find his mom, Brian a 13 year old boy facing life or death situations each day in the wild and the Logan family faces racism. So as we go along we can see how they overcome their challenges. Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon left Percy and his mother Sally on their own, not that he had a choice. But the gods took an oath that they were to not have children.
Adversity can bring out the positive and negative sides in a person. In “The Proof of Worth,” Edgar Albert Guest demonstrates how challenges in life can help someone understand what he or she is capable of during a hardship. Similarly, “The Importance of Adversity in Growth and Development” written by Patrick Kohan exemplifies how children will never learn how to conquer an obstacle if they are always given assistance. Additionally, Laura Hillenbrand’s novel, Unbroken, indicates that experiencing problems can affect the way a person’s body reacts and thinks about a difficult moment. Ultimately, the authors highlight that obstacles can be a complex or helpful task, as well as assist people in the future when they need to know their true
We must stop trying to find a way that circumvents obstacles. Every difficulty we successfully confront serves to strengthen the ability to conquer future obstacles. Personally, I have been fortunate enough to not face as many conflicts as others at my age tend to face. However, I do still have obstacles that come in my way, determination, resilience, and persistence enable me to push past adversities and prevail. I believe all problematic times in life helps us enjoy when things are going smoothly.

Now think to yourself and try to think of a time where things were just not going your way. And people reveal who they truly are on the inside, you were surprised, right? These stories that I chose will explain what life can consist of.
Sometimes, one has to go through hardships to achieve success. This happens in the memoir, The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls. Jeanette goes through many obstacles with her parents and siblings. Her dad is an alcoholic, and her family is poor and always moves around. She grew up with little food, and little wealth, but somehow earned success.
When I was growing up, I experienced many hardships that most people don 't endure. I grew up in the city of Phoenix, Arizona with little to nothing. I had one little sister and an older sister and brother. Even though I was young I knew how difficult my parents had it. My mom worked three jobs and my dad worked in construction just to barely support us.
When times get tough and adversity is thrown at you like a curveball all you can do is stay positive and know to never give up. Unfortunately I have had to deal with a couple scenarios where I have been faced with adversity. I have had to overcome my parents being divorced, and a family member who has overcame a drug addiction. That was one of the hardest things I was ever faced with going through middle school, but knowing that there will always be a tomorrow and to not give up on someone has had a positive impact in the end. It has brought my family closer than we have ever been.
At 21 year old, I identify as a Black African-American female in the lower income tier of Gainesville Florida. Due to my beliefs in a divine God and Jesus Christ, I am a Christian. All my life, I have been told by many to be proud of the skin that I was in because my ancestors and people like us were brave and courageous people who fought for what we as Black African Americans have now such as freedom. To understand how deep my lesson of wearing my skin proud, I have to make it known that I am Haitian, and as a little girl, I knew of Haiti’s history, of my ancestors’ fight for freedom, of the pride I should take in knowing that such people were part of our past. Than coming to the U.S, it was a different set of people that fought for freedom,

There are currently 7.6 billion people living on Earth all with a different story to tell. Everyone has a different background and goes through obstacles throughout their life. Some people share these experiences for others to be inspired and understand their backgrounds as human beings. Humans can relate, adapt, and learn from these events by simply taking the time to hear one 's journey. Whether that be in a book, a documentary, or even just a one on one conversation some people tend to open up about life 's difficulties so they can pass on these moments.
I have always had to work through blood, sweat and tears to achieve where I am today. Even with setbacks it easy to give up on yourself but I remind myself to count my blessings. Where I am today being not where I was yesterday or last week, not even a year ago I was here. I came from living in near poverty conditions to be able to attend college and have food, clothes and a home.
In our life, there are periods of challenges that we must face, but the real challenge is how we grow and learn from overcoming them. Being naive children, we believed that life was simplistic and effortless. Well, we were wrong, we can only yearn for life to be easy. Growing up, we continue to face countless hurdles that only get bigger and bigger. My life, in particular, has been filled with numerous up and downs.
