My Leadership Philosophy

Leadership is something that every collective society will need regardless of its make-up. I try to lead in the things I am able to. Being a leader is more than just bossing people around and getting what you want all of the time, it is understanding the needs of all the people involved and creating progress for the good of all. Leadership is not always easy, especially when no one in a group views a situation remotely the same. I attended a school where there was very little diversity in terms of race but, very typical of other types of diversity. Half of my classes had no diversity whatsoever that I was aware of. I hope to make a lasting impact in my community by showing people that there are simple things they can do to enhance their community programs. I also want to show my peers that there is more to life than what we think is important. I often tutor people or help them with their homework without any recognition. I only tutor people if I feel that I am able to help them improve their understanding of the subject at hand. I do it whenever I am available whether it be during lunch, before school, after school or on the weekends. When we help others, it should just be a natural instinct with only the student’s best interest in mind. I do not need to be rewarded or honored for being a good human being. I have always tried to be a helpful person, it is my nature, my calling, and what I enjoy doing, whether it be school, church or just being out in the community. People should realize that there will always be guidance and help for those who need it and that those who are in need should not be too proud or embarrassed to ask for it because I am sure I am not the only one who feels this way. My experience with helping people has allowed me to be a part of something greater than myself. I have realized that some people just do not have the same opportunities as others. This realization has helped me to further my goal of helping others instead of only helping
