Throughout my years in the military I have always been aware of the power of worthy leadership. To me, a leader is one that influences others to attain the values, work ethic and positive attitude necessary to accomplish the daily mission. As a Senior Human Resources Non Commissioned Officer my leadership philosophy will be to provide the highest quality customer service while simultaneously attending to my Soldier’s needs. In my experience, I have learned positive attributes from past leaders as well as negative and plan to incorporate those lessons to improve myself as a supervisor. To attain this goal I will also focus on these key characteristics to assure maximum potential; adaptability, passion, empathy, and a sense of humor. In an HR office, the constant modifications to regulations, policies, command needs, and training can be stressful. Being adaptable is essential to accomplishing objectives and securing an upbeat work environment. In my experience, leaders that were able to identify an obstacle, fix it, learn from it and then educate have been by far the best I have met. Having a passion for a positon that is often thankless, requires a sense of pride in what you do. Learning the regulations, sometimes verbatim, and mentoring our Soldiers to enjoy what they do will surely prepare them to be successful and great future leaders.
