Heroism Who is your hero? It may be your dad or, perhaps another family member, one that you have known your whole life as a hero. Maybe it is a fictional character. A person that you don't know or have never seen, but still you think of them as a hero.
In my opinion, Dorothea Dix fits my definition of a hero because she not only did something to improve the life of one person, she improved the lives of thousands, without worrying about the consequences of her actions. That day when she went to teach Sunday school in East Cambridge, she could have done nothing about the terrible conditions that the prisoners had to endure. She could have chosen to ignore them. But instead, she let her courageous and nurturing ways take over, and she campaigned for the rights of those

To me, a hero is someone who is admirable and does good things but isn't perfect. Ruby Bridges is a hero because she helped desegregate schools so all skin colors can go to any school and receive the same education as white people instead of only getting taught certain things. She managed to do it even when she had almost nobody supporting her and even with multiple people saying bad words and traumatizing her she still managed to carry out her idea and desegregate
My personal Michigan hero is my seventh grade social studies teacher, Ms. Dokter. Though I am not a personal friend of hers, per say, she had a tremendous impact on my life. She made me laugh, told me that I could do whatever I put my mind to, and was an amazing educator. Seventh grade was tough for me at times. I was at a new school, and it seemed like everyone knew what they were doing except me.

This started a civil rights movement that would change segregation of black people. Rosa Parks was arrested after she refused to give up her seat, this was all due because of the color of her skin.
But someone who just does it out of their own kindness. My Michigan hero is my sister Nicole because she helps others, she cares a lot about her family, and she works hard. My sister helps others out a lot. She always helps me when i’m sad or scared.
Rebels Without a Cause: Alienation in The Catcher in the Rye and The Bell Jar When most people think of the 1950s, they think of things like drive-in movies, poodle skirts, bobby socks, I Love Lucy, and Buddy Holly. But beneath the era’s conformist and highly materialist facade lay a largely overlooked underground world of racism, McCarthyism, and anxiety. This so-called Silent Generation was born too late to fight in World War II but still had to deal with its repercussions. People like Jack Kerouac, Malcolm X, Arthur Miller, Ralph Ellison, and yes, Sylvia Plath and J.D. Salinger struggled with the alienation that was typical of their generation. Nowhere is this alienation better portrayed than in Salinger’s
