Philosophy of Nursing A nurse’s philosophy has various definitions affected by personal reflections, values and cultural beliefs. The start of building a philosophy begins during the educational process. As a nursing student, I had a preconceived idea of what nursing was all about, how many people’s life I was going to help and change, physician interactions, and an overall sense of being part of an interdisciplinary health team. I will discuss my evolved philosophy of nursing that has assisted me in developing my nursing practices. The metaparadigm are four interrelated concepts that develop based on values, beliefs, and personal/professional experiences to include person, environment, health, and nursing.
