The principles of relationship building with Children, Young people and Adults need to be nurtured in order to maintain the relationship that has already formed. All parties need to feel secure and comfortable around one another in order to build further trust and open up and talk effectively about any subjects and issues. Teaching assistants need to act as good role models to the children, young people and adults. Teaching assistants need to be polite, considerate, empathic and good at identifying and sorting out problems as they are also regarded as a representative of the school. The children and young people need to be encouraged and praised with their academic life and showed by staff that they are accepted for what they are and receive
As a future teacher, I will always have good intentions for my students. I will recognize their abilities and encourage growth while having a positive approach. I will teach in a variety of ways that is beneficial to my students. If they are having difficulties learning the material, I will change my teaching strategies until progress is achieved. I will include every student; the quiet will be heard, the misunderstood will be redirected and the gifted will be rewarded.
First and foremost to understand others like your peers, teachers and any other adults in authority you need to have a good positive relationship with them and so it is vital that certain principles are followed to maintain a strong and constructive relationship. The teaching assistant has to ensure, even if the classroom is in full swing, she is giving everyone equal attention and that no one is getting left out. There are a variety of ways for the teaching assistant to promote the independent learning: -Setting clear rules and instructions help the child build their confidence. Knowing what to do should encourage them to get on with their tasks or activities independently. -Encouraging group work helps students to develop social skills and communication, encourages them to speak up and present their ideas to their peers which builds their self- esteem and confidence and motivates them to independent learning. -Celebrating successes- Students respond well to praise and are usually motivated to do their best.
Teaching assistant should use strategies and techniques to make pupils follow instructions such as: prompting shy or reticent pupils, translating or explaining words and phrases, reminding pupils of using teaching points that were made by a teacher, using correct language and vocabulary, making sure that pupils understand what is asked of them and carry the task out, helping pupils to use resources that are relevant to the learning activity. I come to class with excited feeling and joy to learn and work with children and staff in this class. I dress appropriated clothes and comfort to work with children all day long. I avoid absences and spend as much as possible time in class to learn and be with children. I get used to the classroom routine schedule and ask with my colleague and teachers activities and events that occur between children that I don’t understand. I remain positive attitude in the classroom all the time.

The training that a teaching assistant should have when they are working in a school should be to use their teaching assistant training knowledge in the classroom to help the pupils and the teacher. This includes helping and encouraging pupils in the classroom and giving special support to those pupils that find a certain topic harder than the rest of the class. They should also help the teacher with preparing the classroom for the students by getting the right equipment out and making sure that there are no dangerous objects that could harm the pupils. Working full time for the past two years, I have had experience being both a physical therapist aide/technician and even an assistant. I have completed observation hours at Gentilly Physical Therapy and Sports Rehabilitation, where I was a technician to a couple physical therapy assistants and physical therapists. At Gentilly rehabilitation center, I understood the nature of the work by assisting patients through weight training, teaching them the proper way to move around and assisted with recording the progress of each treatment. One of the unique aspects of the Department of Child Development and Family Relations is that many of the department’s large core courses offer teaching assistant opportunities to undergraduate students. Being a teacher is a journey that has much to do with learning about yourself and being aware that what happens in your classroom reflects only on how are you with yourself. Teachers are not conscious that they project into students, and that affects how things go in the classroom. I believe the first characteristic of a good teacher is that he/ she is always willing to analyze his/her teaching performance. Second the teacher is humble enough to receive input about the development and application of techniques, learning from it and improving.
