My Response To My Memoir

When people write emotions pours into it; especially when they are writing about their own lives. When an author writes about their entire lives it's called an autobiography. When they focus in on a section or specific memory its called a memoir. An author focuses in on one memory that has some meaning or has impacted them in some way. Usually this memory takes place in a short time period and is very detail oriented. I created a detailed and engaging memoir by using specific writing strategies to convey the message of how to have a victory doesn’t mean you won compared to other people's standards. In the beginning of my memoir, I created an engaging hook by using the strategies of in media res, dialogue and active verbs to “show not tell” the details in my story. I used in media res to engage the reader by starting with an action scene. The scene makes people want to read more and intrigued to see how characters got into this situation. In this memoir, I began in the middle of the first paragraph and hooked in readers. I used dialogue to do the same. An example of this was “BOATS ALIGNED, READY GOOO!!”. They all helped the story come alive in some way. Memoirs are a way to share a message in some way to everyone else. Memoirs are different than most non-fiction because it's only a small section of your life. Its also all about the writer. Because it's short, it is often written very well and detail packed. It goes into uber detail to help place the reader into the story. Memoirs help people see into a section of a writer's life and help readers feel the emotions linked with this. It helps writers share messages or life lessons that they have learned.
