I chose Research College of nursing Accelerated BSN Program because of the reputation Research has for training skilled, well prepared nurses. I am sure that if given the opportunity, I will excel in this program, as well as in the nursing field. I'm passionate about nursing and I have a lot that I can offer the healthcare field. Combined with naturally caring, I'm highly enthused, gifted, and work well in high stress atmospheres. My desire for this career field is a big stimulus for me, and I am devoted to prosper in it.
a. This portfolio shows the educational journey through the BSN program at Western Governors University(WGU). The curriculum at WGU was very challenging, nonetheless it prepared me to become a safe and effective nurse. The BSN curriculum provided avenues to keep me up to date with safe practices and learn how to master therapeutic communication. WGU also helped me sharpen my critical thinking skills in order to make decisions quickly and provide safe and effective care to patients. As the result of my training, I am ready to embark in the field of nursing and do my best to make a difference in my patients lives.
CNA’s are in high demand. Unfortunately, there are usually far more positions open than there are applicants, as CNA’s are not among the higher paying positions available in the healthcare industry. However, these individuals can gain a tremendous wealth of knowledge by attending CNA classes, and they can build on this knowledge throughout their medical careers. I am deciding to apply to the University of Wisconsin-Madison because I am intrigued by the opportunities the university has to offer. During my time at UW-Madison I hope to participate in intramural sports, get a job, receive an excellent education, and much more. The city life offers a diverse culture and allows you to learn about and to appreciate life. As I want to be a part of the nursing program I would utilize the opportunity to work at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and to work alongside other students trying to achieve the same goal as I am.
One of my most important lifetime goals is to become a CRNA. A CRNA is an advanced registered nurse who has a board certification in anesthesia. Becoming a CRNA is very hard work and requires a lot of dedication and experience. As long as I can remember, it has always been clear to me that I want a job in the medical field. As soon as I entered high school, I started taking all the “medical” and science classes, such as principles of health science, that were required in order to take a CNA program, which is a certified nursing assistant, during my senior year.
I am a strong believer in preventative measures when it comes to combating disease and disorders, by encouraging the health and immune systems of individuals to naturally inhibit these afflictions. I will take action in pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in agroecology and plant sciences, which will take me into the career of agricultural consulting from the extent of farms to household gardens. This career path will allow me to promote the most nutrient dense foods and biodiversity; the key constituent to a healthy immune system, to the diets of our local communities. I have confidence in a contemporary approach to health care that emphasizes health and resorts to pharmaceutical medication only when necessary.
(McLoad 2007) I started working in the care sector at 18 and undertook the NVQ 2 as it is mandatory training. I then completed the NVQ 3 as I wanted to progress and I needed this qualification to become a senior carer. This started my ambition and determination to go into higher education and I knew I had some academic skills so I decided to become a nurse.
In 1870, nursing had been learnt from the mothers to the daughters. Now it has been changed to the school education that the students learn the nursing skill from the nursing professionals and the education programs of nursing keep developing from the 1900s to now that the diploma school has been changed to BSN, AND, and the postgraduate school has also been replaced by Master degree, CNL, PhD, DNSc, ND and DNP (Martha, n.d.). Therefore, the people have more chance to learn and be the nurse. Education programs also produce more and more professional nurses for the world to develop the nursing profession. Nursing education provides the nursing theories and practical training for the students to help them learn the knowledge of nursing and their duties, in order to protect patient safety and the safety of the public.
As healthcare has evolved, the nursing profession has undergone changes as well. When I graduated from nursing school in 1994, I just needed to get a nursing degree. It was important that I had a license that allowed me to practice, whether it be an ADN or a BSN degree. My nursing instructors were mastered prepared nurses, and the only DNP in our department was the Dean of Nursing. Times have changed, going to college doesn’t always mean you will have a job especially a job you desire.
I am a caring and compassionate individual with true enthusiasm for learning. Ever since I was very young I had a desire to help others to the greatest of my ability in my lifetime. I participated in Girl Scouts when I was younger, earning my Bronze Award by creating and completing a service project as a troop. We did a fundraiser for City Light Women and Children’s shelter, where I later volunteered at throughout high school. It was my senior year of high school that I discovered becoming a nurse would allow me to have a career dedicated to the care of others while still having a profession that would challenge me intellectually.
