Online Schooling Is Not an Option
In “My Teacher is an App” Authors Stephanie Banchero and Stephanie Simon discusses the controversial topic of online schooling for children in grades K through 12th. Many people around the country are either for or against online school. Online school should not be an option for children in grades K through 12th. Reasons being the negative impact of online school which are the social effect and negative impact on education.
To begin with, the social effect on children. Children are not around their peers when enrolled in online schooling. They sit inside majority of the day on a computer learning. Instead of in a traditional school around people their age. In school children can also go outside for recess and play with their peers. Additionally, online school can effect children communication skills. They don’t have to raise their hands and answer questions. Children also don’t have to get up in front of the class and present projects. They don’t have to talk to their classmates

When children choose to enroll in online school it effects other people lives. Teacher’s jobs are at risk. The less students there are to teach the less teacher they need at the schools. The spring cove district in Pennsylvania lost 43 of its 1,850 students and had to send them the share of local and state tax dollars which totaled out to $340,000 dollars (1). Moreover, children doing their work on time or not doing their work at all. This is a problem because students are not around anyone to help motivate them to complete their work. They are at home being distracted by something around them instead of focusing on their school work. Finally, low standardized test scores. Children are not focusing properly on the work material needed for building skills for test taking. Without them focusing on their work they are unable to understanding their
