Several sources of both primary and secondary data have been acquired to support my research question as to how stress from the HSC is affecting students physical and emotional wellbeing. The primary results showed support to my research question as students are impacted negatively since beginning the HSC year. My research question was formulated to “What are the negative impacts of stress on physical and emotional wellbeing created by the HSC on students”

The reason as to why i state this is because i believe the education system is giving students to much work load with balancing homework, exams, assessments and as well as their personal lives to balance. The amount of workload given is causing pressure from within themselves and others to gain good results in their studies. On top of this, students are also stressing out about the future with their career goals and ultimately all of the above is causing students to have stress impacted negatively on their physical and emotional wellbeing.
As a result:
- Students are feeling more anxious and/or depressed since starting the HSC year as proven in graph/chart 10 as 50% said yes they did.
- Losing interest in things they used to enjoy as proven in graph/chart 11 as 40% said yes.
- Participating more in school related work. Majority said 3 hours plus as proven in chart

Hayley Gleeson states that a student's difficulty with balancing their wellbeing and HSC is due to the education system making them sick and stressed. An example of how it is making students sick and stressed is quoted by Lucy Clarke “There is too much focus on academic outcomes and a very narrow view of success with a one-size-fits-all approach that negates individuality. There is too much testing and too much competition, and too much comparison between kids. The whole system is geared towards achieving better outcomes rather than getting kids to love learning, and consequently there is a hierarchy of pressure, with kids right at the bottom. There are a whole lot of structural problems too but, well, I could write a
