In the NFL a rookie salary cap needs to be implemented. A salary cap limits the amount of money an individual can earn. A rookie is a person’s first year in a specific category. So a rookie salary cap would limit the amount of money a rookie in pro sports could earn. This salary cap can bring many benefits to the the league. Hopefully it will drive rookies to work harder to earn more money and also increase the salary of veterans that have proved themselves as forces to be reckoned with. Also it should help decrease ticket prices, better pay employees, and many other benefits. Let’s talk more about these benefits that a new rookie salary cap would bring to the league. Once they receive that big payday, what’s their motivation.” I personally think, along with many others, that salary should be based on performance. Now this may seem weird but let’s talk about it in a lot more detail. So let’s take Jamarcus Russell for instance. He was all hyped up to turn around the Raiders. He got a 40 million dollar contract as I said in the previous paragraph. Now if the salary was calculated via performance the Raiders wouldn’t of been robbed of $40 million dollars and the Nfl wouldn’t of gotten robbed. Now how would they calculate this. Each position would have a different pay ratio such as a running back would make X amount of dollars per yard. Now this ratio would be used across the Nfl for everyone in that position. This would establish a fair, equal, and economically smart pay rate for all players throughout the NFL. also this would prevent many situations such as Jamarcus Russell. Another situation this would prevent. Is the situation Johnny Manziel caused for the dreadful Cleveland Browns. He came in a ridiculous and excessive rookie contract that screwed over the browns.Johnny was making bank as a rookie so all he wanted to do was spend, spend, and spend. This got him into partying and alcohol which then threw his career over the railing. Manziel ended up being removed from the league and is now trying to get back into the league by returning to his former college Texas A&M. This problem would’ve never happened if there was a rookie salary cap or if salary was calculated via performance. Johnny manziel was doing good for the browns, if he would’ve had to work for all that money he wouldn’t of had the need to go blow all his money. That is why salary via performance would motivate these young athletes to do their best on the field to make the most money they can for their families. Also it will prevent teams from getting screwed over such as the St. Louis Rams, Oakland Raiders, and
