This is a story of Nagaina in the story of “Rikki-Tikki-Tavi” written by Rudyard Kipling. Nagaina is an antagonist that lives in the garden of a bungalow owned by an English family in Africa. Nagaina is one of the main antagonists in the “great war”.(16) Nagaina is an evil cobra with a cold heart. She was a snake that was Caring, evil, and scary. Nagaina proved she was an evil snake when she ambushed the main protagonist Rikki-Tikki-Tavi while her husband Nag distracted him. “But are you sure there is anything to gain by killing people? said Nag.”(22) “Everything, said Nagaina”.(22) Nagaina would do anything to rid the garden of Rikki-Tikki-tavi even if it meant killing. “Nagaina lifted up her head and hissed. You warned Rikki-Tikki when I would have killed him. Indeed and truly, you’ve chosen a bad place to be lame in.”(24) After Darzee’s wife pretends to have her wing broken from a rock thrown by the boy, Nagaina still would kill her in cold blood for helping Rikki-Tikki-Tavi. “If you move, I strike, If you do not move, I strike.”(25) When Nagaina has hold of the English family's son, she will kill him no matter what. …show more content…

“Nagaina spun clear around, forgetting everything for the sake of one egg.”(25) When Nagaina is about to kill the son of the English family, she forgets everything when Rikki mentions her egg. “Rikki-tikki forgot about the egg it still lay on the veranda and nagaina came nearer and nearer to it till at last she caught it in her mouth and flew like an arrow.”(26) Nagaina risks everything just so she can get her egg to safety. Nagaina risks the son of the English family being her hostage, the father getting his shotgun, and Rikki killing her. Nagaina really did just want to escape with her baby or she would’ve fought with
