When I first started babysitting it was for a family with two children that were under the age of four, a little boy named Bentley and a newborn girl named Charlotte . The little boy has low functioning autism, which mean he was unable to speak and did things differently than other children. It was difficult to watch them at times, charlotte would be crying and fussy. Bentley would be crying for all my attention directed towards him, but he also had days where he did not want my attention and wanted me to leave him alone. Dinner time was always one of the hardest times of the night. I had to feed charlotte who was crying because she was starving. At the same time I had to figure out what Bentley wanted to eat. He was a picky eater I had to hold up the food. If by chance he showed any reaction on his face. That is what he wanted to eat, if that did not work I had him grab my hands and had him showed us what he wanted to eat. We did a lot together throughout the years of babysitting him and his sister. The binder also contained birthdays, appointments and plans for supper, everything had velcro on the binder. To put the binder together it took weeks. For people with autism I found that they like schedule and order, and they function better if they have that in there life 's.
I have babysat those kids since I was ten, I was new to all the responsibility it took to babysit for a kid with autism and not only that but his baby sister too but, I’m extremely passionate about those kids. Those kids and I have grown a tight bound with one and another. I can not picture my life without watching those kids; they showed me that one day in the future I want to be a special education teacher for children like bentley, and a mother. This experience was wonderful but, I knew it was not going to be my last experience working with kids with special
