Derek I Snedden POLS-Y 353 Professor Fowler 20 July 2015 Eagle Forum: The Pro-family movement The Eagle forum was founded by Phyllis Schlafly in 1972 and began as a trust fund to defend conservative agendas in 1967. During the proposal of the Equal Rights Amendment in 1972, Schlafly founded a group with more proactive approach called “Stop ERA” with one goal in mind, to defeat the ratification of ERA. After the success of the “Stop ERA” campaign, Phyllis Schlafly founded the eagle forum, a pro family group dedicated to “opposing all encroachments against American sovereignty through…feminist goals” (Schlafly). Althoug the primary interaction that eagle forum has had with the womens movement was the ERA, they also are incessantly combating
However, as time passed I acquired a sense of responsibility to help my community out. The “End of Year” report also encourages members of the unit to assist in the community. Some people are involved in the Ambulance Corps, Firehouse, Police Department, Youth Court, etc. When we go to certain community service events, cadets might like that event a lot. For example, a cadet might volunteer at the local thrift store and love the atmosphere.
It is incredibly humbling and exciting to receive not only this award, but also the recognition that follows. This scholarship is something that will not only help me pay for my education but will be a direct influence in my success as a student and a Sigma Chi. As a recipient of this award, I thank the Sigma Chi Foundation and my own brothers for aiding me in my journey for academic excellence and the embodiment of the seven virtues which we all follow. Thank you
After I was studying secondary school, I tried different ways to improve my English. In addition, my mother was hiring a teacher for me to enhance my English skill. However, it did not help me, and it contributed me to hate English even more.
As you know, obviously, I am Violet. I go to Mountain View Preparatory in Cottonwood; I am writing to you as a part of Ms. McFarland’s Social Studies class. I enjoy math, history, and the universe, as well as reading. I love fantasy and science fiction, especially when relating to time travel and medieval worlds. I don’t know what I want to do in the future, to the point of being minorly depressing.
It's lovely to see them grow through the years and how big of an impact this organization has for them it was very important to be the perfect Golden Girl they aspire to be, because they’re hopes and dreams are to become like us one day, we’re role models not only to them, but to the community as a whole. This organization is looked up to and it is an expectation to not slip up and to fit the standards of being a Golden Girl. The fundraiser event helped me to grow patience and to enjoy the growth of others as
As I entered high school and grew up the world began to change as I encountered the topics of suicide, eating disorders, mental disease and substance abuse on a daily bases. All words I heard before now became my reality I watched my friends starve themselves to shed a couple pounds, my cousin killing himself along, discovered my uncle was an alcoholic and my brother and friends were suicidal. Just last year three kids committed suicide at my school, and many I saw the true colors of multiple family members being succumbed to alcohol abuse. As I never experienced any feeling of depression or need to impress others and have lived a genuinely happy life I was puzzled and began to question why the people in my life thought the way they did and it got me truly intrigued by the psychological world.
Coming into my senior project I had a well throughout idea. When I began to discuss senior project ideas with my peers, I noticed my project would be too simple. I wanted to step outside the box and dig a little deeper into my creative mind. I really wanted a project I would be excited to spend my senior year completing. I end of facing a multitude of problems and new ideas.
In part C, I assessed Jorian’s writing using the (6 plus 1) rubric. From that rubric, he seemed to struggle with many parts of his writing when comparing it to the expected performance of a sixth-grade student. In this same process[edit], I noticed how particulate and clean his paper was. The font and size of his writing was well done, though a little under grade level, it was pleasing to the eye and easy to follow. There were headings, transitions and proper spacing.
During my senior year at federal way high school I was allowed to participate in the running start program at Highline Community College. Although I was only in the program for one quarter I continued attending Highline for another six quarters. Regretfully I also began to work and soon started to fail my classes. So I decided to work full time and put my education on hold for the time. After working a few different places and being laid off I soon decided it was time to look toward my future.
In addition to competitions in Future Business Leaders of America, there are also competitions in band. These competitions include district solo and ensemble, state solo and ensemble, state large ensemble, and competitive marching events. Most of the community service projects or school activities that I have planned and organized have been due to the fact that I am an officer and committee head for each of the organizations. Some examples of these service projects and activities include: Adopt a Child, where the committee organized an event where local high school students were able to “adopt” a less fortunate child and give them gifts for the Christmas Holiday; the Tree of Warmth, where as a committee we decorate a Christmas Tree and have students donate hats, gloves and scarfs to give to less fortunate children; a Christmas Pajama donation, for students to bring in new pajamas to give to children in Children’s Mercy Hospital to wear on Christmas Eve and Day. These are just a few of the many community service projects that I have taken part in during my high school career.
Welcome to AP TAG English III, otherwise known as AP English Language and Composition. I did TAG English in middle school, but this was the first year I did TAG English in high school. If you are in this situation, don’t worry, it is not that much different than regular AP English. You read a lot of the same books, but you don’t have a single test all year. Test grades in this class are projects, book conferences or seminars.
The readings and concepts that I have read and analyzed over this semester have really opened up my eyes and ears on what I have to have knowledge of before I enter into the classroom. Some very important issues I have learned about really show why I choose this profession after all. The topic of the history of disabilities and how far this world has come to provide equal respect and accomodations is amazing. Other topics I found inspiring were the diversity, the gender issues and equality, and especially the people with disabilities that played sports. With every topic I have read about over these past weeks I have learned more about the people I will encounter and accommodate and how much more learning I have to complete.
Through my past year and a half as an Alpha Phi, I have grown immensely as a woman. I have learned that women can lead hundreds of other women to success, which snowballs into thousands of successful Alpha Phis. I believe that participating in a women 's leadership development experience because I can carry on what I have learned to other women in my chapter. I believe this experience would be extremely helpful in me serving my chapter as the Vice President of Community Relations, and would help me develop to lead these women to the best of my ability. I can then take the knowledge and skills I gained and help the women I lead become better leaders themselves.
The fact that I given the opportunity to do nothing but service for two and a half days was so life-changing that I immediately signed up again as soon as I could. From the enjoyment that people got just from our company to those that were truly touched by the fact that people still cared about them, it was an experience that still impacts me to this
