Many times during a day, I think to myself about how blessed I am to be allowed and able to participate in so many different activities and life experiences. As a student, I have always been extremely involved in school and community activities. I have added major interests throughout my life which include school organizations, extracurricular activities, and working in my community. Most of these interests were instilled at a very young age, because I was lucky enough to watch my older brothers have the same exceptional experiences in life. In addition to competitions in Future Business Leaders of America, there are also competitions in band. These competitions include district solo and ensemble, state solo and ensemble, state large ensemble, and competitive marching events. Most of the community service projects or school activities that I have planned and organized have been due to the fact that I am an officer and committee head for each of the organizations. Some examples of these service projects and activities include: Adopt a Child, where the committee organized an event where local high school students were able to “adopt” a less fortunate child and give them gifts for the Christmas Holiday; the Tree of Warmth, where as a committee we decorate a Christmas Tree and have students donate hats, gloves and scarfs to give to less fortunate children; a Christmas Pajama donation, for students to bring in new pajamas to give to children in Children’s Mercy Hospital to wear on Christmas Eve and Day. These are just a few of the many community service projects that I have taken part in during my high school career. The events that officers organize in Student Council are the school wide spirit weeks for Homecoming and Courtwarming and the school dances to go along with those activities. I have amazing parents that have always taken care of my brothers and me. My parents are retired Missouri educators, and with four children understand the expenses that can arise in life. We have never really been in want, and always have what we need. Nevertheless, times are getting more expensive as we all get older. My three brothers are all older than myself, and only one has graduated college. The other two are currently in college, and one is about to graduate. However, this does not necessarily assist my parents because I am about to enter into college. I do not want my parents to have to pay for much, if any of my college tuition. Therefore, I am applying to multiple scholarships in hopes of receiving some
