So, step two of the assignment, I don't know really have any idea on what project to do because I don't have the assignments from the other classes I've taken, plus I don't really have an idea on how to construct the project. I'll just have
This gets a little complicated though because students are often not heard or asked their opinions. Feeling like their opinion doesn’t matter is very discouraging to students but the ones that dare to make themselves heard say that is very inspiring to actually get their point across. Betty Jo Jordan, executive assistance to the State Superintendent of West Virginia, said after speaking with a few middle to high school age girls, “I think sometimes we completely ignore the fact that these kids think a lot about a lot of things. We don’t really ask them for their opinions or their ideas on how to make schools better... That was very enlightening.”
My Senior Honors Project consists of researching the lack of resources within Native communities for special needs children. To begin with, my universal theme is special needs children. By doing research for my visual presentation, I learned a lot about other culture’s worldview on special needs children and I also concluded my culture’s worldview--both in my Native American community and in the state of New Mexico. One of the many things that I learned about my topic, my culture’s worldview and other communities’ worldview is that everything is perceived differently.
While doing this assignment, I joined the Human Service Student Organization (HSSO). HSSO has regular meeting, which are usually held in Warf-Pickel. According to the website, “The Human Service Student Organization is a platform to congregate and educate students on topics relative to the helping profession.” While being apart of this organization, many individuals will participate in many activities, such as volunteering throughout the community. Some of the activities are helping the homeless in the community, volunteering at the One Acre Café, and participating in community outreach.
Just. Serve’s Capstone Project was a perfect way to conclude and summarize the lessons learned throughout this past semester. Concepts that were core to our learning, including inequality, privilege, advocacy, service, and service learning, were reinforced by both the research and group components of this project. Ultimately, this class and this project have left an enormous impression on how I perceive both service and advocacy and I would definitely recommend this program to others.
Agency Project Reflection When this project was first introduced, I was not quite sure what I wanted to do, or what the project was asking me to do. After listening to examples, my group and I decided we wanted to deter people from buying something. Originally, we wanted to go to the Apple Store and put up sticky notes explaining the working conditions of those making Apple products. We eventually decided to go to a market and put sticky notes on animal products explaining why they are bad for the environment and people's health to deter people from buying them. We decided to go to a market over Apple because Apple is very small, and people are less likely to be deterred from buying something that affects others versus something that affects
Improving the community will always be a priority for me. I do some of many community services with the National Honor Society. As President, one has to manage and plan for different volunteer events. We have been part of Boo at the Zoo and For the Love of the Lake. The biggest accomplishment we have planned was the Christmas Party for AIDS Service of Dallas.
My final project was based around the misguided stereotype that all Muslims are terrorists. I offered this topic as our final project to my cohorts, which they proudly accepted. I feel we did a good job with the video even though we had limited time and resources. Our project helps prove that we have used ideal critical thinking and problem solving skills, ideal research and information fluency skills, ideal communication and collaboration skills, and ideal creativity and innovation skills. At the ideal stage of the critical thinking and problem solving rubric, it says that students were able to “use multiple resources to plan, design, and execute real-world problem, use technology to collaborate and solve authentic problems, and develop and answer open-ended questions using higher order thinking
Politics has been a big part in my life ever since I can remember, especially growing up with a father and grandfather who were once state representatives. Thus I thought I would investigate what my peers thought about this upcoming presidential election. I was curious to hear about if they were knowledgeable on the candidates, if they were planning on voting, and who or what influenced their vote. As I furthered my research, I came across several similarities focusing on college students and if they had enough knowledge to vote in the president election as well as who influenced my peers votes.
As we were given the assignment to be able to come up with a senior project idea, my mind went to all sorts of places. I would think: what is something that I have always wanted to do, but cannot seem to find the time to do it? I thought that exercising has always been an important thing in my life and eating healthy because I feel like a whole new person when I am doing these two things. I am someone that is constantly stressed and came to notice that as I am exercising, I’m not thinking; I don’t think about what I have to do later in the day or what’s coming up the next week, I live in that moment, in the now, when I am exercising. The two things combined are an essential part of anyone’s life, which is why I chose this for my senior project - knowing that I have no excuse to not keep on doing these things, so having to find time for this is key.
As a young person in this society, I know how difficult it can be to face everyone else and share your opinion. However, young people have voice and that voice is powerful. The teachers need the support for any action to take place. The students of our society are the people of tomorrow. They will be the ones making technological advances, medical miracles, and political changes.
The purpose of this short paper is to discuss the process and outcomes of the capstone project. Additionally, it would reflect its impact on my future career path. I consider this project as a preamble of what we (capstone course students) will meet in our professional setting. This project marks the ending of an educational journey, and the beginning of a scholar’s mindset. I have learned to put into practice the knowledge and skills acquired over the course of my Masters of Science in Psychology.
When I first heard that I needed to complete a legacy project I was very concerned about what I could possibly do that would help my site. I felt that Playhouse already had everything that I could possibly offer and that anything I offered would not be significant. After addressing my concerns with the lead teacher of the classroom I am interning in, we decided on a legacy project. In the classroom, Laura has shelves where the wooden blocks are stored. The shelves have cutouts that match the blocks in order for the children to quickly identify the shapes and store the blocks properly.
A) What can you understand from "project management" in your opinion? Before talking about project management and what does it mean, I will begin with defining the main word "Project". The Project management Institute (PMI) defines a project as "A temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product, service, or result."
The personal project I am presenting is upon the fashion and clothing industry of the world. My project is based upon extensive research from various online websites about how designers came about to becoming famously known, the process of manufacturing clothing, and the culture behind what is New York City streetwear. This is a topic I understand the most. My whole life is based upon the fashion industry, and to do my personal project on it just seemed right. The goal for my project was to actually make my ideas come to life.
