Congratulations on getting into National Junior Honor Society! I am looking forward to working with all of you to make next year’s school year one everyone will remember. One of the only ways to make NJHS, or any great organization, run smoothly is to have great leaders who knows how to compromise when needed and stay open minded about everything. Vince Lombardi was a football player and coach who was viewed as an outstanding leader and role model to all. He once said, “Leaders aren’t born, they are made, and they are made just like anything else, through hard work. That’s the price we have to pay to achieve that goal or any goal.” This is why I am running for vice president. Organization is a very important factor in being successful and accomplishing the goals we set forth. Being involved in numerous amounts of extra curricular activities such as dance, student council, vocal lessons and drama club taught me how important organization and time management really is. Secondly, I am open minded and I know how to compromise. Having a twin sister isn’t the easiest thing in the world. We may look similar, but we have very different opinions, preferences and viewpoints. Compromising is a very common tool used in my family, and staying open minded is a way to enjoy activities I never thought I’d enjoy. Finally, I know how to work as a team. Teamwork is something I’ve used in activities such as Odyssey of the Mind, and programs such as the National Youth Leadership Forum. From these activities and programs I’ve taken place in I’ve learned how valuable other opinions and thoughts are when trying to accomplish a goal. The people who undercut the success of others and take credit for their accomplishments are the people who rarely succeed and are close-minded. The biggest mistake teams make is focusing on one person’s strengths and weaknesses and not focusing on everyone
