We as individuals could improve the functions of life for older adults by not allowing negative stereotypes to blind our views of them. We look at elders as weak individuals who can’t do much for themselves. Negative stereotypes are known to be a common threat towards people. We feel as if we could be treated negatively from this stereotype and this can lead to fear and anxiety. Consequently, all races and genders have negative stereotypes. It is our duty as upstanding individuals to not pay any attention to these stereotypes. Benefits of this would include not categorizing every elder in the same category and allow them to have a better outlook on their own lives by not comparing themselves to other people.
