Food Revolution
“We are what we eat”. This statement became true because today the health of the American people is being negatively affected by the fast food industry. Though fast food may offer convenience to busy Americans this convenience should not come at the cost of their health. Due to their high concentration of fats, sugars and addictive substances fast foods can potentially cause a variety of health problems: Obesity, heart disease, diabetes and even other types of illnesses caused by meat. A recent study done on lab rats revealed that the brain response to fast food is almost exactly like that of an addict to heroin. Modern Americans are busier now than ever before. Convenience is an absolute must. In order for this country to be healthier, I believe several changes should take place. To begin with, we need to make healthier food more readily available. Laws also need to be put in place that would forbid the excess inclusion of fats and sugars. Decreasing the size of meal portions would discourage overconsumption of fast foods. Finally, in order to combat the damage fast food has done, we need to educate people more about what goes in to their food. By doing so people will be …show more content…

The sad part about it is that most people know it. From 1985 to 2002 the amount of obesity nearly doubled. Where did this go wrong?
It’s not where this went wrong, it’s where the food industry led us. The food industry is literally killing our nation, bringing about more health problems. Processed and unhealthy foods we eat everyday have affected us. In such way, eating has become just as deadly as smoking and other environmental problems in the world. Why are we allowing this to happen?
