When I grow up, I intend on being neonatal nurse practitioner. Neonatal nurses specialize in taking care newborn infants born with a variety of problems ranging from prematurely, birth defects, infection, cardiac malformations, and surgical problems. There are three levels of neonatal nursing. Level 1 is taking care of newborns in the nursery, Level 2 is Immediate care nurseries, and Level 3 is Neonatal Intensive Care Nurseries. Neonatal nurses typically deal with the babies for only their first month of life, though their problems may last much longer. Every four and a half minutes a baby is born with a defect in the US ,meaning nearly 120,000 babies are affected every year.Can you even imagine being one of the people to help these babies …show more content…

There are a lot of classes in high school and college you’ll have to pay special attention to. Suzanne Lefever explained ”I definitely enjoyed my science classes, particularly anatomy and physiology, and understanding the way the body is created and functions, and what goes wrong with diseases. The clinical courses in nursing are the real highlight, and also being able to focus on a particular area such as medical surgical nursing, intensive care, psychiatric, and pediatrics.” While in high school it’d be a good idea to volunteer at a hospital. First, you must become a RN which requires a four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Next, you must be certified in Neonatal Resuscitation and/or Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing.Typically, hospitals require that you work at least one year in a clinic before moving on to a hospital setting. There are quite a couple different reasons why I would appreciate to be a neonatal nurse. The most important reason being that I want to help ill babies get back to health. I want to help families in the worst situations. Newborn babies are fascinating, and I would love to take care of them. Neonatal nurses also make a decent amount of money, so it would be nice to support my family. In conclusion, there are so many reasons to be a neonatal nurse. I thrive in many areas that are required to be a neonatal nurse. It requires a couple years of education. If I would work hard enough, I could achieve my goals. I will become a neonatal
