I asked some of my friends and family to describe me and said I was enthusiastic, hardworking, kind, thoughtful, and mature. My role in my family is to always make an effort to be helpful to my parents and the rest of my family. I ask my parents for advice about anything I’m not sure about and I value the wisdom with which they help me solve issues I’m struggling with. I also have a wonderful, very supportive friend group although we all have many varying interests and backgrounds who also both give advice and seek it from me often. I am very active in my school and community. I am actively involved in many teams and activities at my high school including the Speech and Debate team, Drama club, Peer Mentoring for disabled students, Honor Society, playing cello …show more content…
I started the Model United Nations club because I want to improve global awareness in my high school and help students see issues from other people's point of view as well as their own. I could be a unique and good addition to a family and community because I always do what I can to help out, don’t discriminate against cultures or beliefs different than my own, and relate to other people easily. The NSLI-Y experience is without any doubt a challenging one but I believe I am prepared. My experiences in speech and debate have prepared me with the ability to be able to talk to people I’ve never met and relate to them while effectively getting my point across. My theatre experience has often put me in situations where I have to act like a fool in front of a large audience which will help me if I am nervous to talk to someone in their native language which I don’t know very well and will likely make mistakes. Also this program is something that I would go into with pure curiosity, an open mind and a will to learn which I believe prepares me most of all. I plan to get a college degree in International Affairs and likely go to graduate school. The world is my
