Nicholas Copernicus the Astronomer
Astronomy has advanced so much thanks to so many talented astronomers. Nicholas Copernicus was one of the astronomers that most impacted the astronomy community. Born in Torun Poland into a wealthy family Nicholas was able to attend some of the most prestige’s schools. When he was not studying medicine or religious laws he would begin to explore astronomy. Nicolaus Copernicus had many accomplishments and discoveries which made him significant to the astronomy world.
Copernicus had many accomplishments in and out of the astronomic community one of the most memorable was that his heliocentric model that initiated the scientific revolution. The observations Copernicus made with the naked eye changed the way astronomy was being thought of. Which is why this accomplishment being so great, that it even caused people to name him the founder of modern astronomy. along with his heliocentric model, Copernicus had more accomplishments he gave out a hand-written book about how the universe was in his eyes. The heliocentric model is an important discovery because it changed the thinking during the sixteenth century. Before he was able to come to this conclusion, he put a lot of thought into other theories like that the earth was at the center of the universe. The Heliocentric model is “the idea that the Sun and all other planets in the Solar System revolved around Earth” (Nicolaus Copernicus) he believed the planets were arranged in a completely different way.
