The value placed upon education in the United States means different things to many different people in the United States of America. Some people believe that the more education they have will be reflected by their finances, meaning they expect to earn more money due to their education. Some believe education will provide them more opportunities in terms of employment. For me education will allow me to be a better entrepreneur, I have yet to see it, but I believe it will happen. No matter what a person expects from education the value diminishes when the education is not suitable. This is the reason that school choice is such a highly debated topic. School choice was created as an alternative to public education, but the majority of the people that do not want to go to the public schools in their area are the worst ones. Because of this, good schools have become a “hot commodity.” No Child Left Behind was supposed to ensure that all students would receive the same type of education, but by institutionalizing school choice the exact opposite happened. The voucher system, which is a part of the No Child Left Behind Act did exactly that, it left thousands of students behind and benefits very few. …show more content…

It should not have, but this mistake affected my perception of the presenter’s competency. She, like the presenter before her said that race was not an issue, but unlike the presenter before her most of the information she spoke on mentioned how the black community was affected. Other than that I believe she covered this canon as it should have been. She mentioned the people who should be valued by the research, stated that all sources are from credible sources, and proved that it is respective of the community
