Imagine sailing across the ocean to a land that is rumored to have savages that will kill you and eat you. Then have diseases that you have no chance of fighting. At the age of 11. Samuel Coliler is an orphan and he is also a fast leaner and pick up skills very quickly. He has no friends and a short temper.
Throughout this speech, a couple of things stood out to me which were kind of weird. Pathos, Ethos, and Logos are all expressed into this speech. Pathos was used in the beginning of the speech when Obama described scenarios of sad situations. For example, he used the imagery of an empty dinner table. Kids growing up without their mother or father.
In 2 very different images created by the Southern Poverty Law Center, or the SPLC, the organization employs Pathos, Logos, and Ethos in an attempt to persuade the audience that their organization is one fighting for good, and that American government is flawed. Meaning that it isn’t conducive to an environment for equality encourages hatred, not adequately supporting civil rights, and teaching intolerance between races, and ethnicities. In these images, Ethos has a great impact on the impression the audience will form toward SPLC, as well as the mission, and goals of the organization. To start of, the Image 1 severely lacks credibility.
Another instance of pathos involves the father persona that Obama exhibits in his speech. He connects with the audience on an emotional level as he talks about parenthood and all of the duties that parents have in caring for their children. He also talks about the duty that parents have to protect and care for their children. This is intending to draw emotion from the parents in the audience as they imagine their own child. Obama then states that we cannot keep them safe without the help of others.
The Rhetorical Elements of Barack Obama’s Speech President Obama uses rhetorical appeals throughout his speech. These rhetorical appeals help prove that each an every student should try their best in school. President Obama stated in his 2009 “Address to America’s Schoolchildren” that each student must take responsibility for his or her own education. WILLIAM JEFFERSON CLINTON SPEECH In William Clintons speech he says “The anger you feel is valid, but you must not allow yourselves to be consumed by it. The hurt you feel must not be allowed to turn into hate, but instead into the search for justice.” William Clinton wanted people to look past this, and to use everything you feel over this to look for justice. He wants them to not look at everything they lost, but everything they still have.
Rhetorical Essay We all have experienced loss sadly, from a simple game of chess to a loved one, and it can be hard to move on from that loss. When I was seven, my grandfather died of lung cancer. It was hard after we lost him, I felt sad and alone, but there were people around me who helped me, gave me hope, and allowed me to move on. Much like what Bill Clinton did for the people of Oklahoma when he tried to console and give hope to the people that lost their loved ones in a terrorist attack. In short, President Barack Obama gave a Commemoration Speech during his presidential campaign at Brown Chapel in Selma, Alabama on Selma Voting Rights March. His speech was powerful and he will go down as one of the greatest President to give speeches. Therefore, in this assignment I will discuss Aristotle’s three ways of persuasion. A Time to Kill is a remembered experience that brings up the question, “Is a father justified to kill the young men who raped his daughter?” There are many fallacies used throughout this trial, such as, Appeals to Trial, Ad Hominem, Authoritative Warrant, Hasty Generalization, Claim of Fact and many others. The trial also used Ethos, Pathos and Logos to get its point across. If there were no fallacies, ethos, pathos or logos used, then the trial wouldn’t have been as strong as it was illustrated to be in the movie.

In these two statements that Obama made to support his claim, he is trying to say that what environment you are in, what situation you are in should not affect your future and your education because just what you are going through does not directly affect your effort or determination to make your future different from what your future is if you give in to those hardships. Obama’s use of the rhetorical appeal of pathos helps with the supporting evidence for his claim that going to school is a benefit for student’s future, because when he uses pathos that causes emotions in the reader of his speech that of other people can go through many hardships and still get a proper education then they can do it to. This is a day when all Americans from every walk of life unite in our resolve for justice and peace.” Those are the inspiring words of president George W. Bush in his 9/11 address after the horrific terrorist attacks on the American citizens. The address was given on 9/11/01, and Bush was assuring the American people that something is being done about the attacks and that they were not left unnoticed. Bush’s address was highly effective even though it relied predominantly on the aid of ethos and pathos, and logos was primarily overlooked.
This is one of those debates that happens over and over again. My judgement on school uniforms is a yes and a no. It would stop bullying over clothing but it basically tells the kids that they can’t express themselves at school. School uniforms would stop distractions but the children would feel like they can’t show their differences in clothing like some kids like colorful stuff and some have traditional clothing and some like certain things that they like to dress in. School uniforms are not a bad idea but the flaw is how the uniforms affect the students minds.
Barack Obama’s win for President in 2009 was a historical moment for the United States. His inaugural speech was much anticipated, because this was going to set the tone for his presidency. His speech told the American people that improving the economy is one of his priorities, but there were also other areas he would like to improve like healthcare and the education system. This was a speech that was meant to persuade the American public to take action for them to rise as a nation again, and for them to put their trust into him. His message addressed a couple of specific points like his gratefulness to the American people, the different crises America is facing, how America will overcome these crises, replying to his cynics, addressing the world, and then he reminded America again to be brave like they’ve always been to overcome the hard times (5 Speechwriting Lessons from Obama's Inaugural Speech, (n.d.).
