In the essay “No books, please; we’re students” writer, John Leo compares students decades ago with students from 1995; their willingness to become engaged in academic experiences. Overtime, a larger proportion of students haven't taken education seriously. For example, chemistry professor Henry Bauer has kept “charts for 10 years” to show that his students had “progressively worse on the finals,” knowing that the questions are exactly like the ones that showed up on the “mid semester quizzes.” Clearly, over the years, a chunk of students willingness to work has declined. Students has become “progressively more ignorant, inattentive, inarticulate,” according to Penn state professor; because students didn't ever look back at the explanations,

In history, there have been many instances where the small choices that were made by everyday people have had a huge effect on their physical and mental surroundings. In the book Everybody Leaves, Wendy Guerra shows us how The smallest changes have the greatest physical, emotional, and social impact on people. In Everyone Leaves, the main character, Nieve, has had major changes in her surroundings due to small incidents. In the book it says,”The verdict came down two hours later. For the next three years, I have to live with my father and his theater group up in the Escambray mountain range, far from the sea and the lagoon.
The book that I picked for my project was “All But My Life” and was written by Gerda Weissmann Klein during World War II. The book “All But My Life” is a book about a young girl who had to go through the hardships of life of a Jew during the Holocaust. Throughout the war she made friends and kept on holding on to hope and, life itself. Those friends she made eventually she lost them, but she never lost the hope she had.
Parents have been vocal for some time about their young child coming home with homework after spending a solid eight hours in class. Kids and adults alike are frustrated with the push of academic expectancy and minuscule creativity. The
But this does not mean that they should be given endless stacks of homework. By this, I mean when they are given a lot of homework for the next day, the student will gets upset and do not want to go to school because he doesn 't want punishment for what he couldn 't do. This is my personal opinion. Homework is a never-ending conflict at school, the students want less homework but the teachers have to give them the homework, so they can study at home. Lastly, I would say a student needs time to learn but also time to play and relax and to enjoy life with his family and
We have told our teachers time and time again how stressful such instances of homework are on our lives. We have told them of our predicaments with juggling school, home, sports, and free time. We have appealed to their instances of such oppression in their pasts. They too have been deaf to the troubles that grading homework has imposed upon them. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity, that the eradication of homework would benefit both teachers and
Down with Homework I agree with Alfie Kohn, when he states the strain that enormous amount of homework causes. But I disagree with his opinion in completely eliminating homework. We cannot eliminate homework because that will destroy the bridge that keeps students connected to their books after they leave school. I do however agree with Kohn in the recent, increase in homework children are getting.
Sounds like an ideal afternoon right? If only all schools never gave homework. Homework is used in a lot of countries and in others there isn’t any. Some people believe it helps improve grades and scores. Others think kids should not have homework because it doesn’t help them and use standardized tests to support them.
Everyone goes to school, everyone has homework. Homework has been a topic of interest for a very long time. Many students think that homework is not beneficial. However, without homework people wouldn’t remember what they learned in class. Homework gives kids the chance to prove what they have learned.
Above all, homework allows the students to gain responsibility, time-management, perseverance, and self-esteem. “The act of completing homework has benefits in terms of developing good habits in students.” This shows that, students are gaining many skills from homework. This also shows that, homework isn’t a waste of time and students do benefit from homework. “Homework also teaches students how to problem solve, think independently, and build an understanding and interest for the issues in our society.”
