Noah the Movie vs Scripture
There are quite a few differences in the movie Noah than from the Bible. I didn’t like the movie as it wasn’t very accurate and is giving false depictions to anyone who doesn’t know scripture or what Genesis or the rest of the Bible says about these events. I am glad we read the Bible first and then watched the movie so we could really see the differences. In the movie, Noah was distant from God. He was presented as a messed up, tortured soul who senses through a dream that God, plans to destroy the world with a flood. But in Genesis 6-8, much of the passage involves direct communication from God to Noah. Noah was close to God, and he understood Him. There was open communication with God and Noah, it wasn’t dreams and Noah wasn’t distant. …show more content…

The Biblical Noah never would have tried to prevent repopulation. Noah understood through the open communication he and God has that he and his family had been chosen to help replenish the Earth (Gen. 9:1). Aronofsky used an interesting concept from ancient Jewish mystics who said that the angels God cast out of heaven after creation were inside big rocks and walked around helping humans. In Noah, the giants, called “watchers,” chop down the wood for the massive ark and defend it from an invading army after Noah talks to them and convinces these rock creatures that he is here form God doing a mission for him. The Bible says God cast these disobedient angels into hell (2 Pet. 2:4), not to earth, and they certainly weren’t sent here to help
