It takes many years of school and working to become a nurse anesthetist. My career goal is to become a nurse anesthetist by completing college and meeting all requirements by 2030. This career is a very demanding career, and it’s important to have the personality, leadership, and goals to become a nurse anesthetist. The first requirement is to become a Registered Nurse with a bachelor’s or master’s degree. You must work at least one year in a critical care setting before going to anesthesia school. Starting in 2025, all nurse anesthetist students must graduate with a doctoral degree to be eligible for their board exam. After graduation from an anesthesia program, you must take the National Certification Exam to become a nurse anesthetist. The median salary for a nurse anesthetist is $129,480 (Occupational Outlook Handbook). The median salary for a registered nurse is $65,470. This attracts many people to the career. This is a very competitive career field. Nurse anesthetists’ programs are very difficult to get into, and it can be very challenging to get hired. Tests have proven my leadership and personality traits fit the needs of a nurse anesthetist. My Holland Code results say I should be in a social work environment. My personality traits also match a nurse anesthetist. My Personal Leadership Inventory results say I have an ESTP personality. These types of people are very competitive and like to take risks. I am currently in high school and doing dual enrollment. I plan to graduate high school in May of 2025 with my associate degree. I plan on going to Georgia Southern University in the fall of 2025. While there, I am going to complete their nursing program. I plan on completing nursing school by May 2027. I will then work as a registered nurse in a critical care unit at a nearby hospital for one year. After working for one year, I will go to anesthesia school at Augusta University. This should take two years. After completing anesthesia school, I will work to complete the National Certification Exam and become a nurse anesthetist. If I follow this plan, I should be able to reach my career goal by 2030. Through research, I have learned more about my personality and myself as a leader. I have also studied careers that relate to my personality and leadership traits. I have found that I have the right traits to be a nurse anesthetist. I have constructed a detailed plan with all the requirements to become a nurse anesthetist. While this is a very competitive and demanding career, I believe I can achieve this career
