From the very onset of my undergraduate career, I knew two things: I wanted to be a physician and I wanted to return home to work in my community. Growing up in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, I was brought up in a rural, medically under-served area. Lack of facilities, short handed manpower, and patient ignorance of medical information all contribute to a rather rocky health care system within the community. Once I arrived to Xavier, I quickly joined a research lab, and have gained over 1000 hours of lab work. Additionally, through my research experiences, I gained immense amounts of both scientific and medical knowledge.

I should be selected as a Senate Youth Delegate from Missouri for many reasons, including the numerous leadership positions I’ve held and am currently holding, such as being the president of my high school’s National Honor Society, the Junior Class President, a 4-year member of student council, and the section leader of the drumline in my high school’s band. I have been able to build myself as a person through leadership and hard work, and I value both of these characteristics deeply, as they largely determine how others see and respect me. additionally, these experiences and positions have allowed me to truly determine that my leadership and hard work define who I am as a person, and I cherish those characteristics above all others. I believe
My passion for nursing practice defies description; leading to the reason I am opting to pursue a higher level of education in nursing. In creating this portfolio, I am inclined to maintain a professional e- handbook, so to speak, of my educational and professional accomplishments over the years that reflect growth and development in my quest to be a competent nurse. Creating an e-portfolio allows for the safe documentation and archiving of my information that potential employers can have easy access to when I am in the process of seeking employment opportunities. Having an e-portfolio is a more efficient and effective way of utilizing technology to be more organized in keeping track of important information that could otherwise get lost or destroyed due to adverse events such as floods or fires. I am currently a working Registered Nurse at a long-term care facility in New Jersey and a student in the Bachelors of Science in Nursing online program at Thomas
When I was in ninth grade, a member of Partnership for the Future came to my school to promote the organization and persuade the students to apply. Not fully understanding what I was getting myself into, I took a chance and applied because the paid-summer internship intrigued me. I was thrilled and surprised to find I had made it to the second stage- interviews, and even more amazed that I was accepted. Applying to PFF was one of the best decisions I made throughout my high school career. My ninth grade self would have never foreseen how many doors PFF would open up for me and how PFF aided me academic wise either.
I’ve been exposed to health care in a variety of circumstances ranging from medically isolated villages in rural Africa to health clinics on a Native American reservation. In addition, I have a unique educational background. I’ve focused my studies on physical and social sciences, humanities, and public health. I believe a broad range of exposures to care and individuals, such as those I’ve experienced, is essential for a medical student to prepare for the future challenges in health care. I know the medical program at Brown University will further enhance my skills as a physician, particularly in light of the program’s focus on research, innovation, and responsible service.
Personal Statement for Nursing School “When a person decides to become a Nurse. They make the most important decision of their lives. They choose to dedicate themselves to the care of others” Growing up in Nigeria; I had my first introduction to the field of medicine at the age of 6. At the time, my grand father was a holistic doctor at my local community. Whenever my grandfather went to work, he would take me with him and I remembered being very fascinated by how people would come in to get treatments for different kinds of diseases.
I am currently an undergraduate at Rowan College at Gloucester County completing my pre-nursing studies. As I was growing up, I always enjoyed the idea of helping and healing others. My inspiration to become a nurse was watching my mother make a difference in the lives of elderly at a local senior living community as an Activities Assistant for years. Even though, she was unable to go back to school due to personal circumstances, the compassion she showed towards others around her was something special as she took care of them as if they were relatives. Whenever I had free time, I would just sit and play a game with the elderly residents hearing their life stories from when they were young.
Application for summer nursing program ( camp ) The idea of nursing was first introduced to me in the summer of 2016. My aunt Carol talked about how she really enjoyed her job as a nurse. She talked to me about everything she went through to become a nurse. The schooling, her wages, her hours, the difficulties, and the fun.
As a first generation student to attend college from a family of seven, the journey to a higher education has been arduous and overwhelming. My family gives me all the encouragement I need and are very optimistic about pursuing a higher degree. Unlike myself, my parents did not have the opportunity to attend college. My parents were born and raised in a small town in Mexico where the highest level of education they received was fifth grade. I have worked since I was 14 years old to support my parents with bills, and also saving for college and my own vehicle.
