The NICU is a Neonatal intensive care unit is a special area for premature and sick babies, they go there to receive the help they need, and some babies need help to breathe or they are missing something in their body. Occupations and careers and important milestones in life because they not only define so much about you, but they set what you are going to do the rest of your life. The healthcare field is a field of high interest to many people. One occupation of great interest is a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). An LPN is someone who works under registered nurses or physicians and takes care of sick, injured, or disabled patients.
There is a high significance for a nursing student completing their degree in nursing to start their career as a nurse practitioner. Nursing students must prepare to become nationally certified by an accredited body upon completion of their schooling in order to advance their career (AANP, 2016). This academic accreditation process helps to show that the students have met the requirements to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in their population focus testing. The scope of practice will be affected based on the certification that the practitioner obtains. If the Nurse Practitioner obtains a certification as a nurse specialists in pediatrics, oncology, geriatrics, emergency medicine, etc.
I am interested in your New Graduate Nurse Residency Program. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts Boston and recently obtained my MA RN license in August 2015. I choose to be an RN because I love learning about the anatomy and physiology of the human body and working with people. When I was a little girl, I would watch the Discovery Health channel instead of watching cartoons. A career as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner is a natural extension of my personal, educational, and research experiences. Personal Statement for Nursing School “When a person decides to become a Nurse. They make the most important decision of their lives. They choose to dedicate themselves to the care of others” Growing up in Nigeria; I had my first introduction to the field of medicine at the age of 6. At the time, my grand father was a holistic doctor at my local community. Whenever my grandfather went to work, he would take me with him and I remembered being very fascinated by how people would come in to get treatments for different kinds of diseases.
I just completed my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and look forward to exploring nursing theory, evidence-based practice and leadership even further in the advance practice curriculum. I am pursuing family nurse practitioner because it will allow me to be more versatile in my nursing skills and serve a larger patient population. There has been a focus on primary care medicine since the Affordable Care Act; resulting in a larger need for nurse practitioners required to care for this patient population. I have been granted an opportunity to advance my career and I am more than ready to take on the added responsibilities and handle treatment plans autonomously, as well as learning additional skills such as diagnosing and prescribing medications. By obtaining my graduate level education my clinical judgment would be enhanced to improve safety, quality of care and patient outcomes substantially.
I am currently an undergraduate at Rowan College at Gloucester County completing my pre-nursing studies. As I was growing up, I always enjoyed the idea of helping and healing others. My inspiration to become a nurse was watching my mother make a difference in the lives of elderly at a local senior living community as an Activities Assistant for years. Even though, she was unable to go back to school due to personal circumstances, the compassion she showed towards others around her was something special as she took care of them as if they were relatives. Whenever I had free time, I would just sit and play a game with the elderly residents hearing their life stories from when they were young.
Nursing is a most trusted and gratifying profession. As a nurse educator, I will express my passion for teaching by incorporating features such as clinical assessments, practical application of theory, evaluation, and role modeling into advanced nursing practice, from previous experiences and current experience and clinical practicum to find success and gratification in students chosen profession as well empowering leaners to develop their own strengths, beliefs, and personal attributes to become a good professional. Personally, I do have a positive attitude towards the personal and professional growth, and value ongoing learning and will stive to instill the same into my students learnig journey .. If I could choose one word that would summarize the root of my motivation it would be this: mother. From a very early age, my mother taught me the importance, and the privilege of earning an education. She, having grown up in poverty, was persistent in her efforts to ensure her children developed a love for learning. This love has grown tremendously, and has led me down the path I am today. Currently, I am about to graduate with my Associates in Nursing, and it is a wonderful feeling to be accomplishing a goal that I had set.
