Nursing practice is constructed on nursing knowledge, theory, and research (AACN, 2008). Education is powerful in every profession, which contributes solid foundation and proficiency in any professional field. With powerful knowledge and information, competency and capability is eminent. The differences in competency between the nurses which are prepared at the associate-degree level and the baccalaureate–degree level are based on the educational background of the degree level, the career opportunity involvement and the involvement in leadership and decision making.
In nursing, there are different entry levels into the nursing profession and those entry levels has different curriculums based on the information and knowledge given, these brings different proficiency and skills in every area of specialty in nursing. Educational background determines how proficiency an individual might be. The time to achieve BSN degree in Nursing exceeded associated nursing degree. Associate degree level has only 2-years program in nursing mostly in colleges and community school, but the BSN has 4years program. Why, because BSN degree holder have knowledge in the role leadership role, knowledge in decision making and also have knowledge in research evidenced based practices in nursing than the ADN holder in nursing even though the ADN earn lesser money than the BSN Holder in nursing. BSN holder in nursing have theoretical and scientifically foundation In nursing knowledge than ADN that only have rudimentary and technical and practical knowledge in nursing. ADN holder works under the direction and supervision of BSN holder who has the knowledge in data analysis, critical thinking and research evidenced based in nursing and contribute in quality and patient safety
