Reflective Analysis Philosophy encompasses more than rhetoric; it is the guide by which situations are approached, the viewpoint used to see what is before one, and the method by which one searches for truth; as well as being contextually grounded, philosophy relies on the present but is embedded in the historical past (Butts & Rich, 2015). Philosophy is the essence of a human being, hence, not all people believe the same thing. Christian nurses are given the unique ability to provide compassionate and spiritual care to a variety of patients. The purpose of this paper is to explain my definition of nursing as a caring art, describe how Christian faith impacts caring, describe my personal philosophy of nursing while identifying my own personal values and beliefs, and discus how my beliefs impact my nursing practice. To me, nursing as an art of caring, is defined as caring for the whole person, building meaningful relationships, and providing compassionate care. Holistic nursing care involves healing a person physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I believe the art of nursing is embedded in the steps we take to address problems that are not simply physical.

Nurses like myself are continually seeking education and desire to practice at the most advanced level. Doctorally prepared nurses have become more well known, and have increased the scope of practice for advanced practice nurses in an extremely positive way. Doctorally prepared nurses are known as Doctors of Nursing Practice (DNP) and are often notable for being high quality and cost-effective health care providers.

I have always set my mind to everything I’ve wanted to achieve. At times, I found that things were difficult, but I never gave up and always tried harder. In college, I plan to major in nursing and after graduation I would like to head to straight into the nursing field and fulfil every goal I set for myself from that point on. As a child, I was always interested in helping others and making them feel better.
My field experience with Vidant Home Health and Hospice was rewarding and challenging, but overall it was such a privilege to work with patients and their families at the most vulnerable times in their lives. I intern with the social worker and the Chaplin to know how the social work part works and the bereavement part works. I learned to use evidence-based practice and psychosocial evaluation to make sure that I was able to give the patient and the family the best care so I could help increase the quality of life and provide the patient a positive environment. When conducting an assessment, I learned that communication with the interdisciplinary team is critical so that patients and their families receive the best care possible for end-of-life
As a first year college student, I have had the privilege of experiencing many new and exciting technologies. All of which seem to aid in the learning process substantially. The technology that has just recently been introduced to me is definitely one that has caught my eye. Human Patient Simulators (HPS) are not an idea of the future anymore. They are here, and they are being used.
The professional nursing values I believe are things you can be taught and some you cannot. Nurses are special individuals who ultimately want to care for and help others as much as they can. I agree with all of these values and believe some I will need to work on myself such as competence, illness prevention and patient education. Others I believe I have based on my experience I have already had while caring for others. Some of the qualities I believe I have include: caring, compassion, dependability, empathy, focusing on the patient- defining quality of life, having a holistic patient centered care, kindness, openness to learning, respect for others their dignity and worth and sensitivity.

S- Discuss your SUBJECTIVE feelings for this week: Thursday, I went to an event hosted by Northbay hospital which taught PSA high schoolers the basics of CPR on adults, children and infants. It was really rewarding to see kids wanting to learn how to perform CPR and asking very valid intelligent questions on how to perform CPR. Friday, I went back to my home grounds and did my clinicals at med surg. After spending a few days in med surg, I realized I really do not like med surg.

Current knowledge: My current knowledge in the Health and Social environment includes contemporary issues such as lifestyle factors such as drinking heavily, smoking, a poor diet lacking enough fruit and vegetables and not doing enough exercise. These all contribute to people becoming unwell more often and needing to rely on the NHS. An increasing amount of overweight/obese children shows us that this trend is set to continue. The NHS has helped to decrease the number of people dying from diseases which is great but this means that although people are living longer, it also means that they may be living with one or more long-term complex conditions.
Similarly leadership is the ability to influence people toward attainment of goals (Draft, 2000). The aim of this study is to assess the importance and the need for nurses to have management and leadership skills and to establish the relationship between leadership and management. For many years there has been an emphasis on developing nurses as leaders, culminating in the launch of the Leadership Framework and the National Health Scheme (NHS) Leadership Academy in 2002.

Even though I attempted to complete some of my initial goals for this internship, I noticed that I couldn’t complete a few of them due to lack of time and lack of experience in the field.
