Observation A. Characteristics of the child on the different areas of development a. Physical Development Rohanna’s Gross Motor Skills, seems of average development. She is capable of walking, running, skipping, jumping, and hopping. She can ride a bicycle on her own. She has tried playing many different kinds of sports, but when she does physical activities, she gets tired easily. Rohanna’s eye-hand-foot coordination is also average, as she is capable of doing things that children her age are supposed to be able to do Rohanna’s Fine motor skills development is about average, she can properly grasp her pens and pencils, she can write, she can also draw. Cognitive Development Rohanna’s cognitive development is about average. She is capable of doing most things that children her age can do, such as thinking abstract thoughts, understanding hypothetical situations, as well as being able to think complex thoughts. Regarding her academics, she is doing quite poorly, compared to the others in her class. Although, according to her father, it is only lately that Rohanna struggles with her academics. She has been said to be forgetful, that she still has to be reminded about her assignments and quizzes. Her strength is that she easily understands concepts, but it seems her weakness is that she struggles in retaining the information. Her struggle in the Filipino language constitutes to her having difficulties in her academics, as well as her shyness. It seems that even when she does not understand what was just said, Rohanna does not ask the teacher to repeat it because she does not want to be a bother. This affects her academics, because she attempts to move on with the lessons despite not fully understanding the previous one. Despite her struggles in her academics, Rohanna can engage in deep conversations as it seems that she enjoys talking about abstract things as well as the different marvels of the world. For personal and environmental factors, Rohanna as well as her family have experienced a loss due to separation, therefore it has negatively affected her behavior, as well as her academics. C. Conclusion Rohanna’s different aspects of development are mostly average. Her physical development, may it be her Gross or Fine motor skills are both average. Her social development may need some work, but it seems to be pretty okay. Rohanna has a lot of emotional baggage that she should release. There is so much going on with her that it is already affecting her academics and social development. As for her cognitive development, she is lagging behind her classmates due to her personal issues. As for Rohanna’s self-help, she has found different ways on how manage herself and her emotions, as well as to cope with her loss. D.
