In The Odysseus, when Odysseus, his son and Telemachus attack the suitors whos seeking them for revenge. The book quotes,“Odysseus and his gallant sons changed straight at the front lines, slashing away with sounds with two-edged spears and now they would have killed them all.” This quote reveals that Odysseus and Telemachus attack the suitors who wanted to marry his wife Penelope. The quote says “They would have killed them all” which encourages that Odysseus is failing to exercise control.’ In “Dear Martin”, however, he wants to do and say a lot of stuff because of the situations he's in, not because he is in control. This can be seen clearly when Justyce says, “Ever since my run in with the cop, I've been on high alert, noticing stuff I would have glossed over or tried to ignore before.” This quote implies that Justyce is in the wrong situation, and has little control over his actions and words. Thus, Odysseus has greater control over his circumstances compared to Justyce, demonstrating personal agency and durability in the face of distress. While Justyce faced hardship, Odysseus demonstrates a stronger ability to navigate through difficult situations.
