Officer Norman Primal Leadership

Daniel Goldman, the author of Primal Leadership: Learning to Lead with Emotional Intelligence suggest that a resonant leader is someone who exhibits attributes of emotional and social intelligence and the capability to connect with others and lead them. Emotional Intelligence best described as a set of personality traits known to be successful in leadership, management and professional jobs in the world. There are four resonant styles, and Officer Tommy Norman is visionary. Officer Norman grew attention when a local rapper featured him “showing love to the residents in North Little Rock. The rapper and his son eventually started a "gofundme account" on social media for Officer Norman. There was over $50,000 raised in his honor.

Community

Officer Norman does not see color when he is policing the community. Officer Norman who is Caucasian, patrols predominately-black community. Officer Norman inspires the residents with his positive attitude and caring heart. Officer Norman is very compassionate towards the residents and shows empathy when they are in distress. Officer Norman has worked in some of the toughest neighborhoods in Little Rock Arkansas but he has always remained humbled. Warner Burke (2008) stated that “leadership (was) the act of making something happened that would not otherwise occurred,” (p. 228). Norman is a great role model for many of the residents in the community. He shows patience and cares deeply for their well-being. Because of his positive attitude, Norman has gained the love and trust from the community. The community that he serves and loves respect Officer Norman. He has hosted a front-yard McDonald’s picnic for the children and smiles at the kids as they run up to his patrol car while policing in their neighborhoods. Officer Norman has over 1, 000, 00 followers between the two social media sites. Many of his followers they send gifts from around the world to the children and adults in the North Little Rock. He makes time to stop by and visit with the elderly, plan weekly lunch and dinner dates with some of the residents, and still has time to build a relationship with his girlfriend
