Advertisements in today’s society is everything. Companies have their own way of advertising or some type of moto. Families are a huge platform in advertising. Rather it be from social media, photos, or commercials all of these play a role in advertising with the content and idea of family. Lots of the time society looks at advertisements and think it’s just a typical ad that contains family content. However, some people in society look deep into these ads and express their feelings. In order to explain further, I have analyzed an Old Navy Twitter ad which contains a controversial picture. In this ad, some people may think the ad is just a normal picture of a typical American family. However, people also can see something the stands out to them immediately. The family is interracial. The Twitter ad explicitly is supposed to promote a sale, which is 30 percent off any Old Navy purchase. The ad featured a black woman and a white man, and a child riding piggyback on the man. Obviously, the Twitter post was just to promote a sale that was going on and showed a typical interracial family representing Old Navy and the style of clothes they sale. …show more content…

Families can be diverse and that’s what I think Old Navy may have tried to portray. There is not a difference between white families and interracial families. All families of all races can shop at Old Navy and wear their clothes. That’s what Old Navy did by posting this ad. Obviously, some people may end up taking this in a negative way but it’s not their life to judge. Interracial couples are becoming more popular around the United States. But it’s not fair to judge them because it all about happiness.
