The Skating Party In the story, The Skating Party by Merna Summers, Uncle Nathan had made a hastened choice of saving Delia instead of Eunice. What Uncle Nathan should have done was saved Eunice because Uncle Nathan was betrothed to Eunice, Delia was already married, and that he made his decision in haste which caused him to make the wrong decision. Firstly Uncle Nathan was engaged to Eunice. He said, “it seemed to me that she might be easier to get along with in the long run”, so he knew that Eunice would have been better to get along with than if it were Delia.
The documents given all point towards a specific idea: how the olympics affect the world. The method in which the olympics affects the world differs in the various sources, with some speaking on progress in political relations, some speaking on progress socially, and finally others arguing it affects the world as a place for hostile countries to prove their worth to each other competitively. The documents about political progress are documents 1, 5, 6, and 7. The first, document 1, speaks very specifically on one who believes that the olympics will decrease tension between countries.
Among many common issues that consume the world today, race is one that has been around for generations. Jesse Owens, a four time Olympic Gold Medalist in track and field, knows about this issue all too well. While attending college at Ohio State University he tied a world record and broke three others. In the 1936 Berlin Games, he broke or equaled 9 Olympic records and set three world records. Outside of track and field, however, Owens was the grandson of slaves and had endured racial battles his entire life.
Toni Smith, The D-III Athlete That Got National Attention Toni Smith was a female basketball player at a D-III college that helped jump-start the silent protests that we still see today during the national anthem. The last time I checked, D-3 athletes don’t get national attention too often unless something amazing happens or something that causes waves happens. This was something that caused waves back in 2003. Toni Smith was trying to justify that she is able to do this, but she never clearly states why she is doing this peaceful protest.
Do you ever really know when you will come face to face with a struggle? No, of course not. If you knew you would avoid facing them all together. In fact, given the choice between facing their own hardship or seeing someone else face their’s, no matter how noble an individual you claim to be, you would choose the latter. The Skating Party is a story that depicted a man’s struggles throughout life, seen through his fifteen year old niece, Maida. When faced with a dilema the character Nathan Singleton has to choose between his fiance or the woman he loves, in a battle against time where he can only save one sister.
This can include discussing performance elements such as flip jump, a triple axel with a double toe loop, or a butterfly camel spin. There is also a set method when judges are deciding on the scores for competitors. Each competitor competes in a short program and a free skate (long program), within these programs, skaters are judged on artistry and technical performance. One of the conventions of communication that skaters use to communicate with their judges when doing these programs, is through facial expressions and their artistic movements. This allows them to “sell” their performance and the quality of it to the judges so they can get a higher scoring.
During World War II, the Code Talkers played a very important and crucial role. During the war they had a very major responsibility in protecting the citizens and soldiers to the best of their ability. However, their job was not only important but it was also very difficult. All of the Code Talkers were given a single language that they all had to memorize perfectly. Although, many of the Code Talkers used their own obscure native language as their code.

My Revolutionary Figure Jesse Owens Owens achieved international fame at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, winning gold medals and defying Nazi leader Adolf Hitler 's contentions of white supremacy. Jesse was born September 12, 1913 in Oakville, Alabama. He became famous for setting new records hurdles, long jump, and sprints. Owens changed track for black people and was determined to be the best so other black children they could do the same if they put their heart into it.
I found the topic of how black athletes may be treated different from white athletes interesting. When I was doing my research I wanted to learn more about these ideas in that black people were more athletic than white but whites were more intellectual in sports. I found that this idea has gone on from the beginning since blacks were slaves. It has however changed since then but not enough to where it is equal now. In my paper I wanted to write about how it was in the beginning and how it has since changed in modern times.
Should Collegiate Athletes Be Introduced to a Pay Grade? Due to the many amenities collegiate athletes already receive, such as special registration for classes, large scholarships, and thousands of dollars each in terms of travel and team expenses, student-athletes should not be paid. While many college sports supporters feel college athletes should be referred to in the same interest as big-time professional athletes due to their experience and the difficulty of performing well in their specific sport, a more in-depth perspective needs to be taken on the subject. Student-athletes attending college spend a great amount of time devoted to their individual sport, but even though they spend immense amounts of time working to get better on
Figure skating taught me how to recover from failures in my everyday life by not letting them define me and accept that there are no shortcuts to success. Keeping a positive outlook on life has helped me set clear goals, be less critical of myself, and produce better results than
Should everyone get a trophy? According to the "trophies for all" policy youth athletes are being awarded with participation trophies. Youth athletes need to know there is no participation award for life. In addition the more trophies coaches give out the less meaning they have. Also, it is a hard lesson to learn but youth athletes need to learn to take a lose.
The Impacts of Figure Skating and the Human Body System All the body systems are used while figure skating. First is the circulatory system. Figure skaters use their arms and legs to dance on the ice and do tricks. The circulatory system flows blood, that is filled with oxygen and nutrients, all over her body. It also has white blood cells that can fight disease for the skater.
