For Knox, his friendship with Maeve is everything she is all he has and they have been friends forever. This is not even the most extreme effect that social media has on the lives of teens. Social media has such a big effect on the lives of teens that it can sometimes end up taking one. The text reads, “ Brandon died trying to take a shortcut through the construction site, concrete slab broke when he jumped onto it crushing him to death. “ freak accident”, was the story until they recovered his phone. “ DARE: jump onto the concrete slab below you’’’,(McManus 248). This shows that social media has a huge impact and influence on the thoughts and actions of teens. Brandon Weber the starting quarterback for their high school football team took a shortcut through a construction site because he got a dare to do it, and jump onto one of the concrete platforms. The concrete platform he jumped to had not had the supports put in yes, causing it to break as soon as he landed on his taking his life.
