Death penalty has been an important issue in justice and legal systems around the world. Historically it has been used almost everywhere, but nowadays it is banned in most Western countries, exept for example the US. Still, it is used in many Asian countries as well as in Islamic countries such as Iran. Death penalty is against basic human rights and the using of it should be stopped everywhere. The biggest issue with death penalty is that the justice system can do and has done mistakes. The wrong person can be senteced to death, which has happened, and there would be no way to withdraw that sentence if a person was proved to be innocent after execution. The juridical process in the US can cost up to one million dollars more than a case where a death sentence is not used. Even all humanity aspects aside it is more expensive to sentence someone to death than to keep someone in prison for the rest of their lives, unless the execution is done in an inhuman way with no juridical process. In my opinion it is also inhuman to think about the expenses when it comes to a human life, and the price should not be the first thing to consider. The positive side with death penalty is that people fear death; they might not commit a crime in fear of being executed. Still, there is no evidence that when a country has discontinued the use of a death sentence the crimes would have increased. Admittebly it might seem like the right thing to do to execute someone who has for example murdered many people or committed some other horrible crime. Even though it might seem "fair" it's still against basic human rights. The fact that the criminal is alive or dead doesn't change the fact that the crime has happened and it can't be undone. In my opinion a criminal should be removed from society since they have decided to commit a crime, but even the juridical system shouldn't have the right to kill someone. The right to live is the most important of human rights, and it should be respected in every
