The celebrity Oprah Winfrey is known for her many achievements. She is both an icon for women and the African American people. What is seldom talked about is her rough childhood. The same childhood that shaped her to be the inspirational being she is. As Oprah says, “Turn your wounds into wisdom.” That is exactly what she did with the circumstances that life threw at her. From those, she became the powerful women she is. Below is an analyzation of her four Pillars of Health throughout her life.

Emotional Health Oprah’s emotional health reached a low since she was a child. In a Learning Liftoff article Winfrey states, “‘I was beaten regularly,’” she told David Letterman during a lecture series at Ball State University. According to an ABC article, “When Oprah Winfrey started having heart palpitations last year and doctors told her to lose weight, the talk show queen herself knew that this weight loss plan had to be for real.” From this quote we can make an inference that Oprah’s physical pillar was not as sturdy as it should be. The article continues, “Doctors concluded that Winfrey's high blood pressure was because of perimenopause, setting in as she was about to turn 49. She needed to lose weight, doctors said. After her extreme weight gain, back in the early 1990s, Winfrey enlisted personal trainer Bob Greene to help out. She and Greene worked together for a year. She ran a marathon, and, more or less, kept the weight off for four years.” From this information, we cannot make a decision of whether or not she is healthy currently because we do not know information about her actual health.
