This artwork reminds and links significantly to my personal experiences, Remembrance Day. My old school would annually celebrate this day, holding up a picture of the Red Poppies. Our school would gather as one singing the Australian Anthem. Remembrance day, the day where thousands of people stand together as one, remembering the death and pain of soldiers. This day is an unforgettable day.

O'Keeffe focuses on the elements of colour, texture, tone and shape of the artwork “Oriental Poppies”.
As soon as I saw this artwork, my intuition was passion and eagerness of this artwork. The silky red and orange colours used are strong as well as well blended. Strangely, I also sense harmony among these fierce colours. I believe this is because of the great use of tone she has used. Georgia O’keeffe has also included creases between the two flowers to give a more 3 dimensional and realistic effect.The deeper I observe this artwork She also has included a contrast of the red and black that also makes this artwork very subtle.

O’Keeffe uses texture and lines to create an illusion of texture on the artwork, such as the detailed crease on the cliff, giving an effect of realism as well as defining the direction. The use of organic shapes in the painting creates uniqueness and reflects on the beauty of nature. Additionally, O’keeffe uses an idea of great composition to create foreground, with greenery plants, middle ground with cliffs and rocks, the background with a monochromatic blue colour.
