The orphan train riders had very many positive and negative experiences with their lives such as them having to stand up on a stage. They also had to be checked and stuff such as checking out muscles and such on kids so basically they can use them as slaves.There was a kid named Elliot Bobo and he was up on stage as an orphan and some “dirty guy” wanted to take the kid home to basically just work on the farm. He did not want to so Elliot bit the guy and ran off stage. Later on he was adopted by an older couple and he was very happy for the rest of his life. There was a girl named Hazelle Latimer and the folk that wanted to adopt her just wanted her as a slave and such. Then there was this one time where the lady that adopted her gave her milk but it was sour, but the lady said she did not have to drink the milk but she said it was fresh when it wasn’t. There was an orphan named Hazen Armstrong and he did not one bit agree with the lifestyle so he did not go live with them. But he eventually got a good home to live in. …show more content…
Some of those kids were abused and some were abused sexually. But some kids probably ran away from home if they were. No child deserves to go through that. Some of the orphans were sent back to New York and for some of the orphans they were known as “Street Arabs” and that’s not good. Some of those orphans ended up joining gangs and others survived by making very little money. Another negative experience was that they had to get inspected, that means people feeling all over you and sticking their dirty fingers ect. In your mouth which is gross to me and that could mean they can give you diseases and such.
