Mission Statement I, Holly Modlin, in the 2015-16 school year will strive to learn new things. I value honesty and respect. I also value responsibility, and hard work. In the video, “Becoming Readers and Writers”, Shelia Owen’s kindergarten class, are five-and six-year-old are readers and writers from day one. The teacher discuss the four reading activities they use in the classroom. The first one she discuss is read aloud, which the teacher is reading a book, modeling the language, and stimulating the discussion in the love of reading. Share reading is when the teacher pulls back on participating and the children role increases. Another one she discuss about is guided reading, and that’s when the teacher pulls back further, and the children show her how much they have learned.
This event promotes the students and parents to read together, which is a key element to learning. The students also are given grade papers with the scoring guide back every week. The curriculum for the school address differences among the community, which is the third category. Ms. Jordan
Every day we develop better lesson plans, assessments and behavior plans and stronger instructional practices, we are helping to build a better world. Every day we take extra time to unlock the key to success for a student with our continuous improvement plans, our safe rides on our school busses, fixing an air conditioner, coach teachers and leaders and hiring the best and brightest, we are building a better world. We will celebrate our ten schools receiving an A or B letter grade. We had seven schools receive a C and three schools in the D range. We can discuss how some of our schools struggled to find highly effective teachers in certain areas or how some of our schools did not show the needed grow because they didn’t have a strong enough focus on standards based instruction.
I was fortunate to have a strong and loving family support system and a nurturing community that came together for my benefit. Whether it is through mentoring, tutoring or volunteering with youth events, I strive to provide the same support for the younger members of my family and community. I believe there is truth in the saying that children learn what they live, and I see it every time I work with young children. Therefore, it is my goal to someday be the kind of positive and influential role model for children that I was blessed with. I was raised to believe that you don’t make decisions in life based just on what you want to do, but rather on how you can help others and better the world around you.
This article shows this goal by advocating for greater parent-teacher involvement to influence student success. This shows how teachers are willing to work with parents and families to help influence a student to succeed. This goal was also shown in Erin E. Adkins’ project “Literacy-Supportive Environments”. This paper shows this goal by explaining how teachers can set up literacy supportive environments for children.
I want to become an assistant principal for one simple reason, the children. I believe that all children can learn under the right conditions. With this in mind, I feel that instructional leaders are responsible for ensuring that the conditions for learning are embedded in the school’s culture. Although my role as a Learning Team Facilitator enables me to have an impact on the academic achievement of students through working with teachers, I believe that becoming an assistant principal will help me to be more of a driving force throughout the school. I possess several personal attributes that are essential in serving in the capacity of an assistant principal.
Persepolis, published completely in October of 2007, is a graphic memoir which encompasses the childhood and adolescence of Marjane Satrapi in Iran during and following the 1979 Islamic Revolution and her teenage years spent in Austria. Satrapi uses her life experiences from living in these two contrasting societies, as portrayed in the graphic memoir, to break the many stereotypes that those reading from a Western perspective may or may not have by showing them women’s roles, Iranian culture, youth culture, and the everyday action of the average citizen of Iran. Throughout the entire book, we see Satrapi constantly rebelling against the rules put in place by the Islamic regime, starting out when she was only ten. We see Satrapi and many of the other girls are using the veil to jump rope with, use as a monster mask, and basically everything but its intended purpose (3 / 5).
Many parents also must pick up extra time, therefor lacking time to participate in their children’s education. Parents must put forward an effort to see that their children develop good social and educational standings with parental support. There are big challenges facing ELL teachers, as they need to is ensuring that each student makes progress in reading, math, and English. Being able to accurately assess each student can be difficult, as accommodations that are allowed during testing can sometimes be of limited value. I had the pleasure of visiting with Mrs. Cooke’s fifth grade class during my clinical experiences. Mrs. Cooke has a great rapport with her students and has very little difficult actively engaging students in learning. One of the “takeaways” from my visit references the students’ and teachers’ commitment to the principles of “The Leader in Me”. From a school-wide perspective, East Elementary School does not practice the traditional positive behavior interventions. Instead, the administration has adopted the ideals and principles behind “The Leader in Me”.
The integrity I possess and genuine character I have reveals my authentic positive outlook on life. I aspire to be the voice that encourages students to obtain a life changing education that will aid them in their journey. I desire to be a teacher that takes time out of my day to have meaningful minutes in a student’s life and to represent the picture of a positive role- model. I hope to leave a lasting impact by creating a caring atmosphere that allows students to express themselves, discover knowledge, and obtain their fullest potential confidently!
Nevertheless, some of the kids can achieve great things as a result of the hard work and personal characteristics they develop in their life. Let’s focus on
